There WAS a guest cabin and servant's quarters. However, they burned down, too. There was a thin walkway (like it was screened-in?) between it and the main house, with a small roof-like covering.
You can still see the foundation of where it was, and there is a small cellar-like hole (similar to the main house itself) there. However, there's a lot of shrub and everything there, so if you're out there walking around at night, it's well-hidden and VERY easy to miss if you're walking around and all. (That's one of the reasons I went in daylight...everything could be seen).

The place has a different feel in the winter we rode our snowmobiles across the lake last year and stumbled on the ruins we walked around for a while and my wife and her friend started to get a nautious feeling like they were gonna throw up , but my friend and I continued on when we realized it was summerwind we checked it out, the girls went back to the sleds and we walked around with nothing happening to us. When we got back too the lodge not far away ,for lunch my buddy said his right bicep hurt, he looked and had a fresh cut on his arm. When I looked closer it looks like a claw mark, I do have the pics of summerwind in the winter and the cut. There is something there, as soon as I figure out how to post them I'll get them on here. Awesome pics and I also agree the place and the fieldstone are gorgeous and the d**n vandals should be shot.

JonnyBlaze---I know of people who've been there at night, and they prefer doing that because it kinda adds to the eerieness and the creepy feeling to the whole shebang. However, that's also when most of the "parties" and vandalization occurs. I was asked if I was going to camp out there at the ruins to see if I could last the night out there, but I didn't do that. Might have been interesting, since I did have permission from the owners to be on the property.....
Hauntingfan93---yep, the lakes in Wisconsin generally freeze up, because you're getting closer to Canada and all once you're up there. From the pic's that I've seen from others who've been there in wintertime, the ruins are really pretty, with the snow capping everything and all....but I'd think you'd have to watch your step for animal holes, and for the dropoffs and all. Plus, there's the holes for the guesthouse and servants' quarters (which are obscured by the shrubbery and all).
Kodiak---cool story! Thanks for the add!

I happened to catch the episode of "A Haunting" about Summerwind yesterday and was poking around on the web afterwards looking for more information. I came across one of what I initially thought was one of the creepiest ghost photos I had ever seen at www.associatedcontent.com/image/63393/index.html?cat=16 taken under the arches (cellar) at Summerwind. (The full article starts at www.associatedcontent.com/article/170100/in_search_of_the_elusive_summerwind.html?cat=16). Then I discovered your pictures and you have captured the same man / ghost in one of your pictures at the exact spot! Something paranormal (Mr. Carter?) imbedded in the foundation or something like the Virgin Mary salt stain in the underpass near Chicago?? Just thought you might be interested...

It’s an optical illusion. It’s the way light plays off the stone.
I have a photo of a tombstone that when you look at it you see just a stone but in the photos it looks like a statue.
