"cathedral like" - that's a great way to put it!
I always felt that the trees kind of made Weary Roard seem like a "tunnel" or something...and they definitely added to the whole atmosphere of the place!
Not all of the trees are gone now...there are still stretches of the road that don't look too different, but the next time you go, you'll definitely notice that a lot of the trees have been cut down!
The entire road isn't "cathedral like" (or tunnel like) any more...I wonder if they were cut because of "Dutch Elm Disease" or something like that?

I seen there was road construction signs on the corner of weary and tuttle. There was no actual "road work" anywhere on weary road and it was for the area were all the haunted activity is. this is normal as they are trying to deter people away from there .

darkman,
Is Weary Road creepier than Witch Road? If they are taking down several trees, it probably takes away alot of the original effect. Would it still be worth the trip?
I am finally going to get out to Dartford Cemetery this Saturday. I have a group of five people involved in this trip. We are planning on stopping at Witch Road at dusk on our way back.

ksmc, I would say that probably the same as far as creepy goes.It would definately be worth the trip if you are willing to drive a couple hours. There is more activity at weary road, I know someone who said he seen hellhounds there.

Where to start? First, I too, before I saw Darkman's post found the photos with the fog on Google Streetview. It's very odd, Google took these photos and they probably don't even know that the fog is there. Also it not like it was something on the lense because the shape and density of the fog changes for 16 photos and then it disappears. You can view the photos if you go on Google Streetview. You need to start at the intersection of Weary and Tuttle and head West towards the bridge. The obvious fog starts right when the trees start on the left hand side of the road. You have to look to the south, at the trees on the left side of the road. The fog appears in 16+ photos from the address 11520-11612. I would also like to point out that looking south at 11506 you can see a ghostly image that my friends and I call "Babyface". Look at the line that helps you navigate the road, look near the white arrow that points to the west. Above the arrow it says "W Weary Rd", Babyface is directly above the w weary rd writing. You may need to move the photo a bit to see the entire face. Then in 11514 of you look at the little fog (this is where it officially starts) then look directly above in the cornfield there are these triangle eyes and a kindof demon face.
These photos are what got me so into Weary. Eventually a couple of friends and I went to Weary. Before we did I watched some of the youtube vids. One of them is a lame Blair Witch spoof but in another video they talk about how one of the legends is that if you sit on the bridge at night headlights will appear and if the vehicle makes it to you it will be a black pickup truck. Not sure where this legend comes from but we noted it. When we went to Weary it was a dreary Sunday afternoon about a month ago. We started at Weary and Tuttle and headed down toward the bridge. We took photos where the fog shows up on Streetview but the pics were clean, no fog. My friend had his laptop along and a webcam (but no sound) we took video of this all. We moved up to the bridge and stopped and let the car idle on the bridge. My friend in the passanger seat went to get out of the car. When I turned my head to look over at him and tell him to get his butt back in the car, I saw headlights coming down the road way behind us. We immediately drove off the bridge and around the curve. We went up to the first house and turned around in the driveway to head back to see if the car was still there (in the youtube video we viewed the headlights disappeared before they got to the car shooting the vid). As we neared the curve a black pickup came into view from behind the trees. We were still 200-300 meters from the corner by the bridge heading south towards the bridge. We couldn't beleive it was a black pickup and he was just about to the bridge, there was nowhere to turn off so we assumed he would go over the bridge and drive past us. Just before the truck crossed the bridge it turned left and drove off into to field between the stream and the cornfield. There was no road where the truck turned off, the grass there is about a foot and a half tall there. It looked like someone may have been down there before by slight splits in the grass but there was no apparent road or trail. We have the truck on video. I know people may think that we staged it, but we didn't. Also I know that there are logical explainations, but what are the odds. We were on the bridge for about 20 seconds before the lights appeared in the rearview. It's ackward that the truck drove off into the field right before the bridge and moments before we could pass it and see if someone driving and who it was. Plus where was the truck going in that field, there is nothing back there. Anyhow I will be back to write more, alot more, just have to go to work now. OWM

I totally want to get the video out there. It's on my friends laptop and for some reason he cannot email it or upload it to Youtube. I really do need to get that video posted somewhere. It has been almost a month since we made it and I haven't even seen it except for when we were in the car, right after we made it. I will post a link if I can get uploaded somewhere.
So last night a friend of mine called to invite me to her party. She grew up in Evansville and lives there now. I couldn't pass up the chance to hang out and plus I knew it was the perfect oppurtunity to take a second trip to Weary. I kindof wanted to wait for my third time to go at night but we to go out there. On the way she told us about the urban legends. She gave me a lot of helpful information to move forward with the research that we are doing. First of all, the story about the teen who died car surfing is true. He was one of her best friends. His name was Matt Floyd and he died on the morning of Saturday August 20th 1994. The accident happened around 1:45am. He did not die on the bridge but the accident did happen on the most erie stretch of the road between the bridge and the intesection of Tuttle and Weary. She also shared other info. We are especially interested in trying to find out the history of what really happened pertaining to the Weary Family. There are so many different legends and finding any solid imformation is tough. My friend said that she has seen a cement foundation before that could be the leftover ruins of the weary home. We couldn't find it at night, she wasn't sure exactly where she had seen it and we need to look in the daytime.
So about our trip, nothing as big as last time happened, but it was only our second trip and there were a few things to report back on. It was interesting to see the road at night, it is really freaky, I don't know how anyone could have the balls to get out and walk at night. Not so much the ghost factor but a lot of people know about Weary and you never know who may be out there ready to mess with you and make you think that something paranormal is happening. So this time we drove the whole legnth of the road. We crossed the bridge and when we were driving down the scary stretch with the trees we heard a thud on the back right hand side door of the car. It was a little weird. Then I ran over a dead racoon, but that was my fault. So that was it, until we got back to my friends house hours later. I was checking for wireless internet connections on my iphone. What happened was odd. My Username on here (I just created my account this week) is omw, it's an acronym for Old Man Weary. My friend Angel lives out in the middle of a field, there is one other house back there. The only connection that was found was locked and its name was "OWVM6". I checked with angel and found out that they do not have any wireless connection. It's just really random that the internet connection has and OM and W, weird. The book Weird WI says the first 2 trips you experience a weird coincidence, and I think that both of my trips brought about something really strange but that couldn't be considered to be proof. My next trip will be my 3rd, not sure when I am go out there for that. Thats all for now, OMW

A friend and I have been to weary road twice now once in the daytime and went again last night...I must say everytime I go there I just get a really creepy feeling inside. The first time we went we stopped on the bridge and we saw a black truck coming up the road and it just drove into the corn field and disappeared it was creepy...legend says that old man weary drove a black truck and if you stop on the bridge you will see headlights in the rearview mirror...and a black truck is supposed to appear...and sure enough it appeared it was very creepy....I still want to know where his house was located because it was burned down in the early 1900's...does anyone know the exact location of where the house was located? So the legend says that you will see Old Man Weary on your 3rd visit. What are your opinions on if it needs to be at night or not? I have gone once during the day and once at night. So my next visit if I go at night will be my 3rd visit total but only my second visit at night? Just wondering if it matters. I don't really plan on seeing a ghost on my 3rd visit but I have definately gotten a trill out of my first 2 visits and I am curious if something paranormal is going on there or not.
