Summerwind is still there, or at least part of the foundation is still there. My most recent trip there was last summer, and there really is not a lot to see. It is privately owned and is notoriously hard to find. However, Terry and I provide great directions and all of the history of the place in our book. A few other sites also have some information on Summerwind. Let me know if you need more information. -Chad

Thanks for the info Chad.I do have the book and im think of takin a trip when spring comes around.I read in the book that it was struck by lightning and i guess that would explain y the mansion looks like its about ready to fall down. Are you allowed to explore the property or do you need permission to be on the property???Please let me know chad.Thank You

Technically you need permission to be on the property and Terry and I advise everyone to get permission before walking on private property. With that being said, if you are going to investigate on your own, I would go there during the day to get a good look at the grounds so you know where it is safe to walk and where you may want to avoid. You can always stay until dark or go back after dark too.
I do not believe the police really worry about the place, as there is not much left for people to vandalize. Please let me know what you discover. -Chad Lewis

I just clicked on that link, it wants a password?
I suppose I would have to register? *sense the excitement*
This place must be about 3 or 4 hours from here... I have been reading more and more about this place in the past week, yet until recently, never heard of it...

Just to let you know, the password thing is no big deal!! Just like the rest of these boards. Summerwind has had quite a bit of discussion lately!
Till next time -

Scholastique2 -- again, thanks for the info on the exboard, again.... I love the Summerwind pictures and information. Still trying to get more familiar with the site, a little green here, and every site is so different (not to mention me, frazzled at times due to the crunch of time).
But thanks again, for sharing that information and site name... much appreciated!
carpe diem~

i went to summerwind last night and i took a couple of pictures, so if they turn out i will post them. The house itself was almost impossible to find, but it was worth it. We probably scared ourselves more in driving around than when we were actually at the house. So if you have the opportunity to visit Summerwind, go for it! Oh yeah and best viewed during the full moon!

A group of us toured the state almost exactly a year ago in an RV, checking out haunted spots. The most interesting thing about Summerwind wasn't really the site itself, but how we 'found' it. All I knew was what lake it was on, and that's it. When we got in the area, I was strangely overcome and told my buddy who was driving, "Turn HERE!"....."Now turn THERE"...so on, until I said, "STOP". We piled out of the RV, with me leading, halfway up a driveway, where I instinctively cut to the right and thru the woods...which opened up into...Summerwind. It was as if I was led there...never have been there before, and again, knew nothing about how to get there other than the name of the lake, which I looked up on a highway map.
There's really not much to see. I suspect the neighbors are a little tired of thrill seekers staring into a hole of bricks and debris, so I'd stick with viewing other's pics.
Now, the Hotel Boscobel, that's ANOTHER story!!!

well, i really should start a new thread on Hotel Boscobel, but we got MANY orb shots and an ecto while photographing the room behind the barroom, which they rent out for meetings and banquets, and in some of the third story hotel rooms (closed to the public and needing renovation).
This is with about 6 different digital cameras going at various times during our visit. When comparing photos later, the orbs were discovered in the same rooms. Those rooms were also noticeably colder or had cold spots. The ectomist was in that banquet room.
