I did some "legend tripping" this weekend in Calumet County, and I discovered two things.
First, the Wal-Mart in Chilton (built on an old family cemetery) has closed.
Secondly, the tree on Hilbert road (in Hilbert), where the spirit of a father looking for his missing daughter, is said to stand, has been removed. There is nothing left but the stump.
I'm still happy I got to visit these sites, but I just wanted to let everybody know about the changes.

not a good thing for someone to do to cut down that tree. perhaps the spirit might get angry because of the tree beign cut down. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if theres more haunted activity in the years to come.

in my experiences the propertied usually remain active no matter what is built or removed. even stirred up when different things are built or removed. there might be alot more coming hopefuly..

It's been open for a few years. Why did you think it was shut down? I know one of the managers (overall store mgrs), if you want, I can ask her if there is a chance it is shutting down, or if anything *strange* happens there... let me know!

On saturday, I visited what used to be a Wal-Mart at 1255 E. Chestnut (off of Hwy. 57). There was about 6 inches of snow in the parking lot (no cars in it). The Wal-Mart letters have been taken off the front of the building (the dirt outline of each letter is still visible), and inside was completely dark. Unless this is not the right Chilton Wal-Mart (I got the address from the WIX website.......http://www.hauntedwi.com/HauntedWisLocs/ChiltonWal-Mart.htm), it is definately closed.

LOTL,
I did some checking, and I think you're talking about the Super Wal-Mart that opened up at 810 S. Irish Rd., on 4/18/07.
The one that was alleged to be haunted (a smaller Wal-Mart), opened in 1996.

what happen at that wal-mart? ?/ The Wal-Mart was built on an old farmstead that had it's own family cemetery on it. However, when they removed the remains to be re-buried somewhere else, it is believed they didn't get all of the bodies. The Wal-Mart opened in 1996, and there were stories of dark figures roaming the aisles. Electronics & appliances turning on by themselves, etc.
