I posted this in the anomalies section back in November. Devils Lake has been coming up lately, so I wanted to re-post it here.
"I read a book called "Atlantis in Wisconsin" a few years back. It is a good book. It's about the Aztalan and the pyramids of Rock Lake in Lake Mills. It also talks about possible ties between the Indians that resided at Aztalan and the ancient people of Atlantis. The book brought up the possibility that miners from Atlantis came to Wisconsin to mine the Copper that was here. The book talks about a lot of interesting things in regards to Wisconsin's history. Another interesting fact that the book brings up is about 2 effigy mounds at Devil's Lake State Park. On 2 separate days each year (I think the equinox and the solstice) you can stand atop one of the bluffs and look down into the valley below to see the sunlight cast shadows off the effigy mounds. The shadows take the shape of the bear and the bird. Not sure where these effigy mounds are located or which bluffs you need to stand on or at what time to see, but it would obviously have to be sunny out. I guess your only supposed to see the shadows make the shape on one day a year per mound. I would love to find out more about this and experience it first hand. "
Has anyone ever heard of these effigy mounds? I should contact someone at the park and see if they know where the mounds can be view from.

You know my wife and several other people have tooken photos of the lake on the north shore, and on the west bluff the rock boulders refelecting in the water and she got an arrowhead in one picture and an eagle in the other, its half of the rocks on the bluff and the other half is reflected in the water. They actually have a picture of it in the nature center before you get to the north shore entrance. I know one of the park rangers and he told me that parfrey's glen will be open next month. One of the most beautiful places I have been to, but i wonder what it will look like now after the flooding last year.
