EXCELLENT!!!!
I drove past the road that goes to town, but back then I wasn't as gung-ho about the paranormal as I am now.....and I'm kicking myself these days for not going there and AT LEAST getting ONE picture of the house. (That was June 2003, and the house is about 5-6 hours away from me). I guess one of these days, when I head out to Omaha and back, I'll have to make the detour and head on down.
I understand (through the house's Website) that if you make arrangements/reservations with the owner, that for $300 (up to 5 people), you can stay overnight in the house. Kathy, is that what you and your team are doing?
I am VERY interested in checking this out!!!!! Even have an acquaintance of mine who got the place for the weekend here in a couple months.
Keep us posted!

Yes we will be spending the whole night there. (But who can sleep?) They have cots in the barn for people who need to take a quick snooze also elect so you can keep recharging what you need to. The house dose not have elect. The cost is resonable. it's 300.00 for people 1-5 after 5 it's 60.00 each person. there are a number of B+B near by as well as motels. We will be staying at a motel in a near by city. They have a number of tours you can take other then the over nighter. here is thier link www.villiscaiowa.com/It's just a few more weeks away and I will be happy to post anything we find there. Also seeing that we will be spending the night, we will be exploring the area. Any suggestions as to where to go? Kathy

WAY cool!!!
One place to visit for certain is to drive south on Hwy 71 to Clarinda, and go through Glenn Miller's birthplace. They have a piano he owned, and atop the piano is a picture of Glenn at the piano, and then there's props placed on the piano that coincide with the items in the pic that are on the piano, as if he just left it. If you (or anyone from your team) can play piano, the staff will invite you to play it. (I've got a pic of myself playing!)
So that's one thing, right off the top of my head.

Good luck with your investigation, I really think that the Villisca house is one of the paranormal treasures of the midwest. My team is planning an overnight later this year (hoping that it will not be a terribly cold November) or early next year. I'll be watching for your posts!

I came back from the Axe Murder house last night. It will take me a few days to go over everything and then I will post my report.

Kathy,
I was reading on your site of the Axe Murder Experience. I was at the part where you were in the kid's room and got a feeling of being trapped, when my girlfriend woke up. The noise she made scared the heck out of me. I was so focused on your story that I let my guard down.

This house touched me more then any place I have ever been to before. Maybe because of the history, I will be posting all my findings on my web site very soon. Included will be any photos as well as the evps I gathered.
I am hoping to return to the house as soon as finances get better.

This place must equal or greater than the Lizzie Borden house. That site has become far too commercialized for profit.

That sounds cool. Do you have the history of the place. I'm not from the state but I like learning about stuff that happens in other states.

Nikki, Try www.chasingmidnight.com. It is about a paranormal investigator from California that spent the night in the axe murder house by himself. It's a good read. There will be an annoying window that comes up that prompts you to change the language, but just keep hitting close about a half dozen times and will be able to continue. Enjoy. You will have to click on Villisca axe murder house on the right side of his site to continue. I wouldn't spend the night in that place alone if you gave me a million bucks.

The house is very active, and I hated to be alone for the short times I was there. You really do need a partner in that house! Here is the offical web site and it covers all the history. www.villiscaiowa.com/I have been trying to write about the house for my web site. I have been so busy lately. The story is partly done and it will go into more detail then what I had posted. Kathy
