I know somewhat of the story. In the early 1800's, twin brothers married, had families, and lived in this place, which had a main hall and separate wings. Each family resided in one wing. There was always tradegy following each family with the wife dying followed by the children. Rumor has it that in the 1920s or so, Chicago gangster Al Capone used this place as a hide out and ran bootleg liquor. There were also haunted house tours back then and rumors of ghosts in the basements. One upstairs room was used for seances. Who ever lived in the place since has met some kind of misfortune, either financially or physically. They had a caretaker overlooking the place so that may be his satellite dish, but the former mansion is in a very sad state of disrepair.

Thank you for sharing, yeah, that's about all i heard about it too. It's too bad it's in such bad shape it looks like it would have been a beautiful place in it's time.

Hi everyone! The old Foote mansion is a favorite of mine. I've been through it many, many times, and searched for a number of years for the "true" story around the twins and their lovely dream house. I've never noticed anything spooky about the place other than it being incredibly big and dangerous in condition. Always heard alot of stories... Anyhow, the story and many pics are in Flickr for all that are curious! www.flickr.com/photos/31711092@N05/2971127373/The place looks horrible now, glad I photograghed it when I did! Feel free to contact me at dtrannyman@aol.com

Wow, looks like its going to fall over any time. I wonder if anybody has plans to restore it. I hope whomever owns that satellite dish doesn't actually live there. With all of the history it doesn't surprise me that people report activity there.

I so wish!By the time the owners are through with the farm there, that place will be lying on the ground. It is very rotten - it was horrible when I was in there 6 years ago. Was a beautiful house....

Was a beautiful house.... i do wish too (haunted or not) but mostly for historic reasons these old beautiful homesteads were kept up, we are losing wisconsin history right in front of our eyes and most don't care it would seem.
