Hello everyone out there!
I want to thank everyone for their input on ORBS, no matter what one believes. Response was very interesting.
QUESTION: If one is doing an investigation using cameras, video cams, EMFs, motion sensors and recording devices for EVPs, and ONLY gets evidence on one device (say EVPs), what would cause this? All devices work, and have new batteries. An energy drain would be a possibility from batteries, but why not have it happen to all devices used?
Why would a spirit just be recorded on just one thing? This happened fairly recently to me when I investigated a haunted commerical vessel here in Milwaukee. No pictures and no EMF readings, but the EVPs are very clear. Again, I was the only one on the vessel and cannot imitate a man's voice. Still checking out the names given to me, to see if they were crew members when the boat sunk decades ago (since raised and refurbished).
Your intelligent thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you, Carol

I believe its because not all ghosts can manefest physically. Sometimes its easier for then to whisper or shout something then to become physical or throw shadows and electronic signals, but thats just my opinion. Though i've seen things personally i'm never the one to hear them.

yeah it depends on what capabilities they have. Just like with living humans, so of us can yell better or some of us can hear or smell better.

Carol, Excellent subject. Our team has also experienced this same phenomena with respect to EVPs. On other occasions we have captured AVPs (Audible Voice Phenomenon, Disembodied Voices) on several pieces of equipment. We like you have experienced just one piece of equipment's batteries draining, but we have also experienced a multiple drain of battery power at the same moment during an investigation. On several occasions when our investigation is concluded and we are going around picking up our digital voice recorders, we have found some are either low on batteries or have been completely drained, while the battery drain on the remaining devices are negligible. When listening back to those devices that were low batteries or drained we found they provided some very interesting EVP evidence up until the device goes dead. Based on this I personally believe that energy does play a very big role in what it is we are trying to capture. Could it be that the spirit or ghost is using the energy stored in batteries? I think it is possible. Plus, it could just be fortuitous that your placement of equipment is where the energy of the spirit or ghost or energy hangs out. I guess a question for you would be, did you obtain your EVP evidence in one localized location, or through out the vessel? Just one other point and I will shut up! Have you taken in account the possibility that you might have picked up ambient voices? The reason I bring this up is the fact that water is a good conduit for sound. If you are in a vessel on water moored at a pier, could you have picked up voices from other vessel's in the area?

Hello there
To Mark in So. Dakota...I had a regular tape recorder placed in the area where several crew members said they felt uneasy in, the engine room, plus a voice activated micro cassette in the bunk area. The names were on the regular recorder, along with "Help" and "Help Me." Very eerie. There were also shuffling noises as if someone had a bad leg or dragged their foot. In the bunk area, nothing more than coughing and again, "Help." Docked in water in the Port of Milwaukee, the closest vessel was a ship about three blocks walking distance away. Picking up names from another boat, I don't think so even though water is a great conductor for sound. But I won't dismiss this at all.
The haunted vessel is just under 100 feet long, 112 years old and just works on the Great Lakes. I had mentioned something ridiculous like "the ocean" when I meant the Detroit River where it sunk in 1941 on a rescue mission for anoither ship in distress. All 6 crew members perished, and supposedly haunt this vessel.
Anyway, on the regular tape recorder, you can hear me state ocean, then an older man's laughter followed by 3 seconds of nothing, then his name...Albie Keitzburg...clear as day. Not sure of the spelling, but again, I'm checking into these crew members who died. Two other names were Denny or Lenny and Jimmy.
The current captain of this vessel does not know the names and also has felt their presence. Former crew members from Detroit and Cleveland, OH refuse to be reassigned to this vessel.
To the other people: I do agree with you that some spirits cannot manifest themselves whether on film or with EMF usage, but as an EVP. Feeding off the battery energy is a good possibility but my cameras, EMF and tape recorders all had new batteries. Go figure. Thanks for the input.

Carol,
You know me, I am looking at all possibilities when it comes to the paranormal. If you can debunk the voices you picked up as coming from other vessels moored in the area, then quite possibly you have some very interesting EVPs. It will be very interesting if you find any corroboration between the names and the vessel you investigated. Please keep us in the loop.

I'm still doing reaserch into this vessel, and unfortunately it's going slow. However, I have a few more contacts and after Memorial Day holiday will call them. I've also checked and checked on the Internet and nothing.
Seems that things way back when are "hidden," lost or not worth mentioning. But I am determined to find out. The only other boat/ship/vessel docked at the time of the investigation DID NOT have those three men as recent employees, nor could the crew members find any evidence of Albie (or Albe) Keitzburg. Again, the spelling.
WHEN I do get some evidence as to names from 1941 on the Detroit river, I will post. Thank you, Carol
