Since 1997 nine young men have drowned off the banks of the Mississippi near La Crosse, WI. FBI investigations have lead nowhere. There have been no signs of foul play on any autopsies. But many of these young men were described as "not the kind of person" to do this.
I am curious to see what people think about the drownings. Feel free to share your personal stories relating to this. Also it would be more interesting if you can expand on why you voted the way you did.
THANK YOU!!

I feel that since La Crosse is a college town, it is quite possible that drunkenness is playing a large role in the drownings. While it is true that they were not the types to do that, it should be remembered that alcohol affects judgement as well as coordination and balance.

I agree that being a college town does have a bit to do with it, as it increases the population, but not as many students are probably there during the warmer swimming months. Were any of the bodies tested for alcohol? I think it's really just a coincidence. You all would be surprised how often people drown here in Madison and we only have lakes with no current. Many people seem to drown in lake Monona in between the Monona Terrace and John Nolan Dr. I think when you have a city there are just so many more people around and it leads to more people in the water. It would be really difficult for a seriel killer to get people into the river and drown them without anyone noticing.
