The above was taken by a photographer friend of mine. She said the house is up for sale, and the neighbors claim it to be haunted. They told her it was listed on some WI haunted house list, but can't seem to find it. So I thought of all you smart Ghost/haunting lovers! The house is currently in forclosure for $34G. Anyone know this house or a story to it? I know the photographer would love to hear it!

I just moved to Augusta. I have seen this house many times and sometimes walk by it at night when walking my dog. You got me curious now. The place I moved into in Augusta seems to have some paranormal activity.

I LOVE A GOOD "RESEARCH" CHALLANGE!!!!! That house was featured on an episode of Animal Planet's show "THE HAUNTED" that was titled "The Possession of Cassie".....the crew did film in that house, but they tried to keep the location of the actual house a secret, so when you see the long shots of the exterior, it is a different house. "The Possession of Cassie" episode of "THE HAUNTED" can be found on YouTube here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOpIbnHysao(that's the first part, after you watch that, it'll give you links to the other parts in order) I HAVE TO SAY THAT I AM TOTALLY ENVIOUS OF THIS PLACE!!!! That is a beautiful old house - it's close to double the floor space of my house AND IT REALLY IS SELLING FOR ONLY 34 GRAND!!!! If Augusta was just a little closer to Madison (where I work) I'd buy the place.... but I just am unable to make the daily commute with a distance like that. (looks like over 160 miles each way) *sigh*

They stated that they truly believed there was something there but also whichever owners who bought it after (obviously they are not living there now!) stated that they had absolutely nothing happen to them while living there. If the house is in foreclosure I'm sure most likely these people who bought it got in a little over their heads! But yes, I totally know which house this is and yeah, because of the family the paranormal team tried to keep it under wraps for privacy issues. It is a beautiful old house though, my husband and I have walked past and admired it many times. :-)

I think it's a good idea that nobody posted the address openly on here....but I just started my "digging" by googling the phrase "houses for sale in Augusta, WI" - you'll get between 5 and 10 different "real estate listing" websites. I just started looking through all the houses listed on one of the sites and I found that house right away - you can get the address from any of these real estate sites. (and you can see pictures of the interior) I'm not kidding when I say that is a beautiful old house! It does need some work, but it is a real "handyman's dream" at $34,000
I also started digging into the most recent owners (the ones who lost it to foreclosure) and I'm not really sure that I should say anything about my "findings" with them - I guess I like the statement that they just got in over their heads, and we should leave it at that.
But this is great that we all seem to have found another genuine "Wisconsin Haunting" - and I really do wish that I could buy that place!!! Are any of you folks who live in that area thinking about it?

I completely agree with NOT posting any address to this house. It's amazing what you can find by just asking other people. The woman who shared the photo actually went last night for a walk through of the house. She is going to talk over things with her husband and then may consider putting in a bid... she is hesitant because they do have 2 small children (2 &6). Thank you guys again, a million times over for helping me on this one! It's amazing what you can get by just asking.....

I really do enjoy using my "research skills" for this kind of thing, so no thanks are necessary!!! Let me share a few other little details I found when doing my "digging" - nobody who ever lived in that house committed suicide! (at least, there is no record of it...no record of any suicide, murder, or anything else along those lines) - since the house is more than 140 years old, it does seem that several elderly residents did "pass away" while living there, and it certainly isn't any stretch of the imagination to assume that some former residents must have died in the house...but the same can be said of almost every old house in the world. Here's some interesting comments I found by the "local historian" who appeared on that show: volumeone.org/articles/article/1144/Thanks_for_Asking_January_28_2010He explains that he was "purposefully misquoted " by the producers of "The Haunted" - derbyfever, please pass this information along to your friend who is considering making an offer on the place! I really think that house is a great opportunity to purchase a beautiful, historic old house at a very good price, and that's the way it should be seen by anybody who is interested in the place!

Just finished reading all comments on this haunted mansion, then watched the YouTube video. Unbelievable! With the history of such an old house, one would think better records were kept. Even though some elderly people were reported to have passed on while living there over the years, I do believe not all deaths were recorded. An investigation I did in 2009 yielded no death notices/records from 1943 of the people murdered in Milwaukee. Spent days looking at old newspapers, went to the historical society, called the police district where the place was, researched death notices, did Yahoo and Google searches, etc. The owner insists that people were murdered there in 1943 from what neighbors told him. ONLY evidence uncovered was that police had been called to the exact area for a domestic dispute. Why things aren't properly recorded or "just disappear" is a real mystery unless there was a coverup and people paid to keep quiet. That does happen. This place I'm referencing IS haunted. See www.marshauntedhouse.com.

Carol, you've been "spoiled" by our modern computer age! Up until as recently as 30 years ago, all sorts of vital records were simply recorded on paper and filed away - today, all records are recorded in electronic databases and the "cross-referencing" of information makes it easy to link people with their "activities" (I mean, for example - when you apply for a mortgage, your entire credit history is available to the lender...even your traffic tickets and that kind of thing get linked into your "permanent records" making it so easy to put together alarmingly full and detailed "profiles" of all of us)
You mentioned the investigation you did a few years ago of a 1943 Milwaukee murder....I'm sure there were records of it, but those old files could have been destroyed decades ago....or they could be molding and deteriorating away in a box somewhere in the basement of the Milwaukee County courthouse. That's why it's such a thrill when you are able to "dig up" old information!

I spoke with the one girl in the video. She stated that they did in fact contact that historian and everything that they experienced is true. ....unfortunately. She stated that The Haunted interviewed them all separatly to ensure that they were all telling the truth. If anyone has any other questions that you would like me to ask the girl in the video let me know. She said she has no problem answering questions.

well...I guess the most obvious question would have to be....
What (in her opinion) would be the motivation for the historian to lie?
