Last night was the 2nd time I have every been to Caryville. Caryville is my first and only "haunted" area I have been too. I will say the 1st time I was there I was scared S**tless! Though most of all I was scared that cops may catch us. We did enter the school house, on the door it says "help me" which is most likely vandalism... when you enter you look up and there is a hole in the ceiling, which is ware the bell is. Then you enter the room and there are all the desks prolly 15-20. There is the black board and a piano, which will play but is off tune a little bit. We stayed in there prolly for only 5 minutes do to there is actually a lot of cars that drive by the church and school house. When you look into the church door windows which sometimes there is a light and sometimes not you can view the bell rope which is ware the priest would have hung himself. The windows are freaky sence there are white shadows in the two large front windows. From what we could fine there are atleast 2 more enterences to the church all were locked. Then if you go out of Caryville twards Eau Claire you will go about 1 mile or so and there will be a road to the left that is a dead end... then a road to the right, if you take the road to the right you will see and old abandoned farm/home on the left. Wer only drove in and looked at it... NO ONE got out of the car do to we were scared nutsless, it is soooooo creapy looking. There is still furniture and pictures hanging on the walls inside. We did all this stuff on the 2nd trip too. But on our 2nd trip which was last night (1/15/2005) we decided to turn left instead of turning right which would take you to the school and church. We had no clue what was up ahead... it looked like farm land for miles and miles. Then trees starting to hover the road. It looked like a tunnel do to the trees branches overhead covering the road. Pretty soon we seen a boat landing on the left and then looked ahead to a steap hill. We did not realise what could be over the hill. We were about 3/4 up it till our car got stuck and would not go up anymore. We had to back all the way back down this hill, which on the right side had dense trees and a steap drop. As we were backing down I remembered reading about a cemetary in Caryville that was on top of a hill of which there was a boat landing at the bottom of the hill. This must be that hill! We are phyced to go back when there is no snow or ice and get up there. We have took picture of the church, school and house. When they are developed I will post them for you guys. We have not felt any weird sensations while being there... BUT it does feel like you are being watched. The first night we did have a truck follow us to a stop sign then stayed at the stop even when no cars were coming and was still there when we could not see him anymore... we turned around and they came zooming by us. SO SCARY! Keep you guys updated about our findings!

Oh yes ! That is my kind of stuff!I wouldn't let them characters scare me!How-ever it may be of your interest to go there during the day!and do some more investigating..Sounds like a hang out for gangs or somthing of that nature, could be very dangerous. I would love to take pictures or a movie recorder just in case it catches something you don't see your self.

The hill you were climbing would have taken you right to the cemetery. It is at the top, just on the right side and you can't miss it. But I would wait for better weather. We climbed the hill in dry weather with no snow, and it was still pretty "hairy" for my car. The actual best way to get to the cemetery is from the north. as per the instructions in Chad Lewis book. I strongly ecommend anyone who wants to explore the Wisconsin countryside get a copy of the WISCONSIN Atlas and Gazetteer. It is available in the book stores and maybe places like Target or WalMart. It runs about 20 bucks, but is well worth the price tag. It has maps of almost all back and side roads of each county in Wisconsin.

I hope to go to Caryville one day. I worry about trespassing. They (law enforcement) cannot stop you from going to the cemetery, can they? Curious...

Yeah, You can get in trouble if it is after hours(cemetary hours) Usually you are not suppose to be there after dark. I personally wouldnt worry about the cops. If you are not doing anything wrong then you will be fine. Just respect the area.

I once caught a 30 lb northern in the bay to the left of the boat landing. Other than that I have never seen any beasts or specters in the area. That is a great place to go if you want to scare yourself. I have also been camping in the Meridean bottoms down the river from the boat landing. No demon dogs or anything. They may have been scared away by my exwife. ;D

HEY TO REPLY TO THE FIRST COMMENT I WENT TO THAT ABANDONED HOUSE YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT AND FOUND IT QUITE INTERESTING. I EXPLORED THE WHOLE HOUSE AND THERE IT SEEMED AS IF THE FAMILY JUST GOT UP AND LEFT WITH ALOT OF PERSONAL BELONGINGS BEHIND. EX. COATS STILL OF THE HANGERS, BOXES OF HOLIDAY BELONGINGS, MATRESSES AND BED FRAMES. THE BASMENT WAS A BIT FRIGTFUL BUT I WAS ABLE TO OVER COME IT FROM THE LITTLE LIGHT THAT WAS SHOWING. THERE WAS A TABLE FULL OF CANNING JARS AND A SET OF SHELFS STILL FULL OF CANNING MATERIALS AND WHAT NOT. THE TOP FLOOR WAS A BIT DULL JUST ALOT OF SEMI FULL ROOMS BUT IT WAS INTERESTING B/E OF THE 2 SETS OF STAIRS AND ONE BATHROOM THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE HOUSE. NOTE THAT THERE WERE 3 BUILDINGS ON THE PROPERTY THAT I DID NOT EXPLORE. DID NOT FEEL ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BUT WAS STILL A BIT STRANGE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES. WELL HOPE TO GET A RESPONCE OF ANY INFO ON THE HOUSES HISTORY.

I went to Caryville for the first time last week and I went to that deserted farmhouse too! It was really creepy, especially because it seemed like the family that lived there just up and left since there was still a bunch a furniture and personal items all over the house. While I was in the house, I had this constant feeling that I was being watched and I kept getting chills. My friend took a bunch of pictures with his digital camera and lots of them have orbs in them while some of them are completely clear! When I get some of the pictures, I will post them. We also explored one of the barns, which was really creepy and the garage, which had a newspaper dated 1975. There was one other barn and a creepy little shack. No one wanted to go in the other barn, and I could have sworn that I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye, but I might have been imagining things. But when my friend with the camera and I went closer to take some pictures, a feeling of malevolence seemed to fill the air the closer you got to the barn. It was probably the creepiest building there.

Last night my boyfriend and I, and three of our friends decided to go to Caryville. We got there around midnight, and as soon as I saw the sign that read "Caryville" on the highway, I had a weird feeling in my stomach that we shouldn't be there. We continued on to the road to the right to cross over the Caryville bridge, and continued to the schoolhouse and church. This was the second time my boyfriend and I were there, but the first time for our other three friends. We pulled up and parked near the church, and 3 of them went into the schoolhouse (not including myself or this other girl). As they walked out, they proceeded to the right side of the building (if you're looking at it) and they were pointing something out. Myself or the other girl didn't know what they were doing until they got back to the car. When they got back, they all had different stories, but all lead to one thing, a tall, dark, shadow of a man inside the schoolhouse. The first person to see it was my boyfriend. He said that he saw a shadow outside of the schoolhouse. While they were in there, one of our friends had a lighter and was trying his best to keep it lit so they could see. They stumbled upon the piano, and our friend with the lighter plunked a couple notes, and immediately following that my boyfriend saw that same shadowy figure that was outside of the schoolhouse now inside the schoolhouse. He then said something to the other two that were in there, they both turned around and saw that same shadow there, but it had appeared as if it was kneeling down. After both of them verified what they had seen with eachother, the lighter flew that our friend was holding appeared to have gotten hit by something, causing it to fly out of his hand and land somewhere near the entrance of the schoolhouse, opposite of the corner where "Blackie" was seen. Later on that night we were headed to the boat landing. We all (but one of us) wanted to do the dare where you shut off your headlights and wait for the red eyes of the hellhounds to appear. Before my boyfriend shut off the lights, he glanced out the rear view mirror, and he saw what was the strange, shadowy figure again. He then glanced back, not sure if his mind was just playing tricks on him, and the figure was gone. Nothing appeared when we shut our headlights off. We waited around 10 minutes before deciding nothing was going to happen. Nothing happened the rest of the night. We went to the cemetery, and back past the schoolhouse and church to get back on the highway. As we were nearing the bridge, I was waiting for a phantom car to appear and play chicken with us. In the meantime, my boyfriend (whom was driving) was feeling the effects of the "time warp" on the bridge. He had said that it appeared that as we were crossing the bridge the second time to return to Eau Claire, it had been quite a bit longer than on the way there.
If anyone wants to talk more about this or possibly check it out again sometime with my boyfriend and I, you can send me and email at TrialnFailure@gmail.com.
