Soon after my Dad passed in 1998 my husband and I had a hair-raising experience. We were sleeping and I was awaked by my husband's sleepy voice saying "Cut it out! That tickles..." He seemed to be talking in his sleep...or so I thought. I reached over to shake him awake and asked him what was he was talking about. He said that my Dad was grabbing his toe and shaking it! I thought he was just dreaming but the next day, our young children and I were at the PX on Camp Pendleton (we lived in base housing) and all of a sudden my son said, "Momma! There's Grandpa!" and when I looked up I seen my dad at the corner of the building waving at us with his big happy grin! I grabbed my kids and ran to the edge of the building and looked around behind it and saw my dad again, waving, way down at the other end and then he was gone. The hair on the back of my neck was crawling and I had a faint flushed feeling but I was excited, too. Maybe it was his way of telling me he was ok and for me not to be sad, who knows? Over the years strange but silly pranks have happened to me and it always makes me think of Daddy and his practical jokes. I like to think he's keeping an eye on me.
