in my mid-teens we had a kitten that was about 6 weeks old and it was dumped at our house by someone. It must have followed us to the bus one morning and was apparantly crushed by the wheels. Some sicko draped its little body over the barb-wire fence and we found it when we got home from school. We buried "Angel Eyes" and tried to move past the horribleness of it all. Within days, wherever we were at in the yard or down at the barn we would hear mewing, plainitive and loud but wouldn't see anything. A number of times we would hear this at the barn while we were playing in the loft followed by the sound of something climbing the aluminum ladder leading to the loft. When we would look over the railing, we couldn't see anything. It was FREAKY at best.
When I was much younger, about 10 years old (living in West Covina, Calif), I was awakened in the middle of the night by the meowing of a cat in distress. My sisters and I shared a bed and we would sleep with the door closed so our cats couldn't disturb us at night. Oddly, the meowing sounded as if it was coming from the ceiling light fixture above our bed! I was wide awake now and getting scared quickly. I felt something drop on the bed all the while hearing this constant meowing. I tried covering my self with the blankets but something was hampering me. I called out to my youngest sister several times in the pitch darkness until she woke up. By now the meowing seemed like it was coming from the closet. Once Angie got fully awake we went in search of "our cat" but couldn't find it in the room or closet. Somehow we decided the meowing was coming from the bathroom down the hall but couldn't find the source at all. After about 30-45 minutes of searching the loud meowing ceased and we were finally able to climb back to bed and go to sleep. The next morning, she and I went outside to play and we found the neighbor lady hosing down the side of her house and window screens. She told us she found bloody paw prints from the ground up over the roof and was trying to wash them away. As an adult, my mind tells me we must have heard the hurt cat outside but at the same time, why did it sound so insistent and LOUD inside the house? Sounds like an urban legend but it really happened and I STILL get spooked thinking about it after all these years. To this day my sister and I still wonder about the strangeness of that night.

Bloody paw prints, huh? Wierd.... maybe cats haev a sort of.... sixth sense that alerts those sensitive to it when it's hurt or something, and it really WAS outside.... but then how could a cat climb up the side of a house? It sounds fishy ot me, but maybe you're sensitive to the resonances of animals. That's a rare talent indeed!

Looking at my post I am reminded about these two incidences as well as several other strange happenings I've experienced involving "ghostly cats". It's strange, too, because I am definitely a dog person and would much rather have a dog than a cat. Also, being an adult keeps me grounded in reality much of the time as I question these events and still they seem freaky to me...too many unexplained things...even recently! Your reply provides an angle I haven't thought of...is worth researching. Thanks

I absolutly believe in the spirit of your pets staying with you, or at least "coming to visit". My wife and I had to have 3 of our cats "put to sleep" because of various health problems. Zac, has a tendancy to show up in the basement while I'm cleaning the litter box. He was all black with glowing green eyes, and always watched us doing household chores. I will be cleaning the litterbox, and turn around to see his eyes looking at me from a dark corner where the box used to be. Scared the hell outta me at first. Chen has been seen sleeping in the recliner, out of the corner of my eye. I'd look over just long enough to catch him raise his head and give a grin, then he's gone. If they were happy, and felt attached to you, I feel they want to check in from time to time. I think they feel attached to us, and the house. We had them cremated, and their ashes are in wood boxes on the night stand in our bedroom.

Yes, animals have a soul therefore they can remain Earth bound just like us. I believe your story and my family has some of their own that involves cats as well.

Now I would have to question that. I never heard of any ghost animal hurting anyone.

I truly believe that pets can come back for a visit. Recently, I had to let two of my cats go on to their eternal rest. One of those cats has been around for almost twenty years and had very particular habits when she was little. The other was with me for about eight and slept in my bed since day one. I had adopted another elderly cat and immediatly she sleeps in my bed. Sometimes she will get spooked and run off, afterwards I will get the feeling that there are two cats jumping up on the bed and doing what they used to, climb up towards the pillow. I generally talk to them by name and the feelings disappear and the new cat returns to her spot.
Other times I will see (out of the corner of my eye) the older of the two running through the house, like she was playing.
I think this will continue until I let her know that it is ok, we will be alright.

Hi all! New here. I've lost a few pets over the years, and both my husband and I have felt a cat or dog jump up on the bed at night. Not so much now that we bought a different house, but we rented the home I grew up in and felt it several times. ;D Pretty sure theres not a ghost animal out to hurt people!

Back 2007 I had to put my kitty named Misty, down to sleep at the vets due to old age and blindness as she kept falling down, I knew I made the right decision at the time in right after she just turned 15 years of age. I told her the full truth on where she was going, her stuff would be passed down to my sis in law's cat named Sketch. But I also did tell her before we went out that I would like for her to come and visit me whenever she found the right time, she did but it was only for a brief moment, I was opening my door to my room and heard her soft meowing which gave me some tears but happy ones of course and til this very day I can hear her jumping off of the furniture upstairs when I gather the mail for family members and to babysit the other animals that also live among my family.

i have seen a dog in my bed room that was not one of ours. he (yes it was VERY much a he) was standing next to my bed and just looked @ me. he was brown and bigger than our big dog. i wasnt afraid but i could tell he was confused bc i wasnt his owner. i have seen a couple of times and he seems less confused every time like he is getting to figure out that i live here now, not his owner.

Well.... Once I was hanging out with one of my friend in the cemetery looking for ghosts activity. We heard noises but we haven't got quite frightend, we seateled down and then my friend jumped up and said if I touched him i say'd no that freaked us out a bit and we decieded to walk instead. We were walking and at the distance of 1-2 meters on a grave we heard a very loud knocking. Then we started to head out of the cemetery (with increased speed but we weren't running) and then a black shadow very rapidly past out before us from the left side to the right when we reached the exit there was a cat sitting on a grave. The cat had very shining eyes(I know the cat's eyes shine but that was very powerfull) it was sitting still on a grave and meowing like it was begging us to go there and see what was.My friend was very determinated to go and se what it is but I deceided and hardly convinced him that we better leave. As we left the cemetery for 10-15 minutes I still was hearing the cats meowing and it freaked me out I've asked my friend if he hears it but he sayd NO.After then the meowing stopped but it put me on a deep though if it was real or not, beaucase it seemed so wierd why it was meowing(his meowing it was like it been scared imploring to help it's hard to imagine but it's like that). Me and my friend are both 15 year old when that happend about 3 monts ago now we both are almost 16 and none of us have never had any pets. Please tell me what coul'd it be.
