Hello all,
I am reporting another experience I had while I was in high school. Rainbow Springs is probably one of the best stories/haunts in WI. The story is to long to write out if you want a detailed story go to W-files.com and look for it on there. I researched and read anything and everything about this haunt.
The one thing I didn't do was drive to the place during the day... realizing 1. you cant just drive up to the place (gates are about 1 mile away to the hotel) 2. it IS TRESPASSING AND YOU SHOULD NOT DO IT! 3. how incredible the site was.
The first time we went there it was under demolition. I was in a group of 5, including me. So once again I was the only one who had any idea of the place and how the owner wanted the place to thrive... and one interesting that I read that really came out when I was actually there was how the owner wanted dog kennels for whatever reason.. And for anyone thats ever been there the part where you are on the main road and you get to the lakes to the left and right of you.. I heard the most chilling sound I have ever heard. I cant even describe it. It was either wolves or dogs, and it sounded like they were being killed or killing something it was intense. My first instinct was to turn around and just walk back to the car which was 2 miles away. I got guff for being the one and only person turning around, when I was the "guy" for this stuff. but to get to the point....
I took 48 pictures of the grounds ( front sign, the hotel, and just walking up the long drive.) ORBS ORBS AND more ORBS! it was great. It was cold that night and I reminded everyone to hold there breathes when I took a picture, and I have one picture that was the construction crews make shift door to get in and out of the hotel (what was left of it). We all walked in to the right was two elevators open and nothing in it. and straight ahead was a bigger room with a large fireplace... In my head: THE SHINNING THE SHINNING. to the left and right were long hallways. And we all were a a little uncomfortable. The excuse that I came up with was " this place is getting torn down so it might not be stable to walk around in here" which was true but we all know what I was really thinking, and of course everyone quickly agreed. I have gone there once after that, and more than half of the building was gone. We went in and the rooms were more like small apartment rooms, the public bathrooms were more like elementary school bathrooms, it was weird looking all around very plain... which in the journal sentinel said was one of the many reasons why it didn't open. OVERALL: almost every picture had orbs. and I only had a few when we were either driving, or walking to the gates (no orbs), I had the feeling of being watched, and felt really cold at times. ( I read the story and a lot about the owner, so it could of been my head messing with me)being the only one in the group that had any knowledge I felt like I could talk to the guy in a way, please dint hurt us we come with respect kind of logic. When I went there the first time construction equipment was there, It was for a fire that burned half of the place down and they were just cleaning it up (do a search on JSONLINE.COM or google for that fire and video of it) Was suppose to be a 700 room hotel big place beautiful golf course is still open there. There is a lake lodge there, I never went to it but you can see it from the smaller lake on the main path spooky looking, they used to use the hotel for a haunted attraction and I think now the lodge is used. I am just seeing if anyone else has been there and will tell me there experience about this very interesting haunt. One last thing I want to mention to any high schoolers looking to do the same because a. your interested b. you have nothing better to do on Friday night... trespassing is a serious offense, a lot of places have security systems now its just not worth it, but if you still go please 1. bring a cell phone if you are alone, even if you are with someone it is smart.. someone can get lost or hurt. 2. even though I did dumb things like go to rainbow springs at 2 am... think about it I went to a hotel that was vacant, homeless people could of been living there etc... basically be smart and be safe. Thank you.
* Do not go to Rainbow Springs when gates are close it is trespassing, the hotel is completely torn down, and they have a new security system*
