We've started research on The Illinois Road Guide to Haunted Locations.
Have any of you visited Resurrection Cemetery with its famous haunting of "Resurrection Mary"?
Are any of you familiar with any other allegedly haunted locations in "the land of Lincoln"?

Obviously Bachelor's Grove cemetery and you can't do a book about haunted Illinois without going down to Alton.

But you guys would find a way to do an investigation on Bachelor's Grove, right??
I am always amazed at the history on that place... I think Troy Taylor's tours go there yet? Something I have not done. Yet. Someday, I hope...
How about studying more on the life of Al Capone, since Chicago was one of his cities? I find his life fascinating, to read about... I guess there is a hotel down town, that has his occasional presence... or so I had heard a while ago. I cannot remember the name of the hotel, but it's one of the old, huge ones.

I'll admit it, I have not seen the Illinois Road Guide yet, but did you (Terry and Chad) ever go there, to Bachelor's Grove?
Dying to know...

Hi Lady of the Lake.
Yes we did make it to both Bachelor's Grove Cemetery and Resurrection Cemetery.
Both of the cases are in the IL book. Bachelor's Grove is much more secluded and harder to find then Resurrection Cemetery.
We enjoyed going to both of them and collected some strange stories from each of them as well.

I went to Resurrection Cemetery in 2002 and again in 2003. Found the graves of at least two "Resurrection Mary" candidates. Drove down to the Ballroom (where she is reputed to dance the night away) and back, but didn't see anything. At the cemetery, I had a bit of a chill despite it being not THAT brisk....and as I was leaving in my car, I had a deer dart out in front of my car (while still in the cemetery, mind you), but I hit the brakes quick enough that I didn't hit it. No other incidents.

I believe since there have been no hauntings for several years, Resurrection Mary must have found the other side.

I found this at the video store over the weekend....there's an indie movie called "Resurrection Mary" that is based on the stories. It's made more into a drama, with some horror elements to it. You've got a high-schooler who nearly hits "Mary" and invites her to the school dance (she accepts, and DOES show up). But as time goes on and the teen sees more of "Mary", more and more of his friends are dying mysteriously, and he is the one the murders seem to point to. In time, he finds out the story of "Mary" and tries to get answers, as well as clear his name in the murders. Pretty good movie! You can learn more at: www.resurrectionmarythemovie.comAnd ksmc2000.....I have also read that, too! It sounds like once Archer Ave was repaved/redone, the road that would have been there in Mary's day was completely gone, and with that, possibly her, too. So if that is indeed the case......R.I.P. Mary.

I was impressed with the Unexplained Mysteries series saga of Resurrection Mary. One of Mary's suitors at the ballroom gave her a ride home, but asked to be dropped off by the gates of the cemetery. She told him at the ballroom what her address was, and he went to her home weeks later to find out that she had died five years prior. Her mother still had pictures of her displayed in the home.
