well....it's certainly true that "new" species of insect, plant and even animal life are still being "discovered" by experts to this day.....but a species as large as bigfoot, I just don't think it's possible in this day and age that such an animal could remain "undiscovered" here in the US.
but who knows?

If you think about it there are Dinosaurs that are still living that are being found so maybe there is several bigfoot. but I still believe they're just normal people with medical problems.

I know this is an old thread but I didn't know that it was still semi-active. As I stated before, I have never seen a squatch so I do not know if they exist or not. However, I think people are wrong when they say that they could not live undiscovered. The theory behind sasquatch is that they possess the motor skills and intelligence unlike a normal animal. Almost human-like. For example, a dog for the most part will run out in the middle of the road with complete disregard for any oncoming traffic. Humans generally have the intelligence to look first. Sasquatches are thought to possess the motor skills more closely related to humans than anything else. And this would give them the 'awareness' or what have you to ensure they remain undetected. I will go out on a limb and say that if someone is familiar with some deep backwoods or mountains, they COULD in theory disappear forever into said forest and never be seen again as long as they keep the mindset that they do not wish to be seen. I could walk through the forest and sneak past a group of people without being seen if I make a consciense effort to do so. Obviously every now and then someone may see me(a sighting) but if I am careful and know the lay of the land this is unlikely. An example would be the former fugitive Eric Rudolf who was very familiar with the Appalachian Mountains. He remained on the run in them for years and only got caught when he came out of the mountains. If he had not done that he may have STILL been on the run. I think that sasquatch could very well possess these survival and evasion skills. Again, I have never seen a squatch but for the sake of argument I am on the side of 'yes it is possible'.

I agree that an intelligent animal is able to "stay away" from humans....and if only 1 bigfoot (or sasquatch or whatever it should be called) existed, I could see such an animal successfully hiding from humans.
But as I said before - one "bigfoot" would have died long, long ago...even a small number of such animals would become extinct. In order for an entire species to continue to exist, there has to be a "sizable breeding population" (which is the whole point to "endangered species lists" - when it's believed that numbers of any certain animal are dangeriously low, it becomes illegal to hunt them, or even harm or disturb their nateral habitats in any way).....if there exists in the US a "breeding populations" of bigfoot creatures - I just think they would be discovered.

Well the size of the species is still up for debate. According to BFRO(Which is a scientific organization dedicated to finding evidence of Bigfoot), there is an estimated population between 2,000 and 6,000 including USA and Canada. If you take the middle number(4000) and divide that up among the states and provinces 50 plus 13(10 provinces and 3 territories), that is approx. 63 sasquatches per state or province, which is a sizeable enough population to breed and thrive, and still be very hard to spot. Plus keep in mind that every year new species of animals are discovered. I will look for the link but I read somewhere that 5 new species have already been discovered in 2011.
