Does anyone have any info and/or stories to share about Paradise Road In Helenville, WI in Jefferson county? Heard it's haunted, and cars either stall or die on this narrow road. Thanks for your input! Carol

Hi everyone, Found some interesting comments on Paradise Road! Go to www.strangeusa.com. Once in that site, a map of the USA appears. Click on Wisconsin, then on the next page scroll down to Jefferson. There should be three places listed. Click on Paradise Road and read the comments. Pretty intense! The site is informative to other haunted places in the US. Carol

I saw a lot of comments on strange USA about this too but no serious investigations or interviews from people that live there appear to have happened. Maybe somebody should, it at least seems like an interesting place.

Raven Hawk...
I recently discovered your site and I think it's really great! I've got no idea if you'll ever read this (you might have stopped posting on here by now) - but if you're still around, I really like your "approach" to your interest in the paranormal! You are very "no nonsense" in the way you look at things, at that's very refreshing to run across when you're online trying to find any piece of information about an "infamous" location.
We even ended up taking a trip to Paradise Road this last Saturday Night after reading your write up on it!

Thank you very much for the comment, bobbybuka.
I haven't been visiting this site as much as I used to (I have to change that).
I have also been bad with the site. I haven't updated it, in forever (something I also will have fix).

DEFINITELY KEEP UPDATING YOUR WEBSITE!!!
You know...I guess I've got an "interest" in the paranormal, but I also don't spend my whole life just searching for ghost stories or anything! Just sometimes, it's interesting to look up "haunted locations" that are close enough to actually go and see....and obviously the easiest way to "research" this kind of thing is on the internet, so finding your website really was great!
There is a lot of stuff that you find online that's just nonsense...that shadowlands site is probably the most visited website for people looking up "local hauntings" - but the information on there is far from accurate!!! (like the playground we were talking about in the other topic...when I first read about it, I honestly thought they were talking about the park right on the main street in Brodhead) - that's why a site like yours could even be considered to be "important" Raven, because you explain flat out what you've heard, what you think isn't true, etc.
I hope you don't ever just totally give up on your site!

OH - and so I don't go too far off the topic of "Paradise Road" with all my praise of Raven Hawk's website....
Thanksgiving weekend was when I was at Paradise Road...myself and 3 others...all guys, we're related and that's sort of something that we have "bonded" over so we stay "close" over the years, I mean - the checking out of haunted locations, we've all got an interest in that, so maybe a few times a year we get together and go on a sort of "ghost hunt" road trip.
OK - about Paradise Road itself....there is a stretch of it that is extremely creepy! (the part with the woods on both sides) The majority of Paradise Road is boardered by open farm fields and some houses that are even pretty close to the road - but there is this one stretch where there are some pretty dense woods on both sides...it has a very "isolated" feeling to it. We just pulled the car over to the side of the road and parked...it was maybe about 1:30 in the morning and we probably stayed out there for over an hour.
There are "noises" in the woods. But...you know...it's a woods! At times we all heard what sounded like footsteps walking through the leaves and snapping twigs...but, I'm sure there are animals in the woods!
We even heard a very EERIE "howling" sound a few different times (it sounded off in the distance, not right near us) but I can't say that it was anything "supernatural" - it's a creepy place, though! Anybody who goes out there probably wont be disappointed.

Hey "thetruth" - I read in a different topic where you said that you're from Janesville, so Paradise Road isn't that far from you either...and it's pretty easy to find! (I had read on other sites that people had a hard time finding it) - just take HWY 106 going east out of Fort Atkinson, I think it was only a little more than 5 miles...you take a left turn onto "County D" (so that's going North) for only about a mile, from "D" you take a left turn onto "Y" and then it's the first right turn that you come to. The area with the "dense woods" that I was talking about is pretty easy to find...but it's right after a road called "Wolf Rd"....
definitely go out there at night....the woods are all marked with "no tresspassing" signs, but you can even just park your car on the road and get out and just walk up the road for a while, it's still very creepy!

Is there an old abandoned house on this road too?

there are a few very rundown (falling down) and obviously "abandoned" buildings along that road, but I'm not sure if they were houses - I mean, they could have been "out buildings" for any of the farms along there.

I wish there were a way to verify the legend of why it's hauted. Supposedly 3 sisters who were all witches were hung together there. I doubt it true but its a great story.
