Hi everyone,
I posted this thread in the "legend trippers" section but not sure if many "Wisconsinites" have perhaps missed it:
My husband and I are local filmmakers and recently have decided to make a full length documentary regarding the myths and ghostlore of Caryville, WI. As of right now, we are currently filming and need some people to interview for this project. Anyone from this area are welcome to contact us, whether if you had an experience...or haven't even been out there, we'd like to know what you have heard about the place. We are also excited to announce we will be featuring an interview from Chad Lewis himself!
If anyone is interested, please email us at: mattminnproductions@live.com
After you contact us, we will give you more information and answer any questions you may have.
We hope to hear from you soon!!

I think you would be better off travelling just a few miles to the northwest to elk lake dam and do a documentary on Mary of Elk Lake( which is a confirmed story). Nothing at Caryville has ever been confirmed. I have been to both places and Elk Lake Dam has way more potential.

We actually have done a short investigation into Mary of Elk Creek and were thinking in the future to do a ghostlore documentary. The only reason we are touching Caryville is because there are a lot of ghostlore stories. That's all the documentary will consist of. But thanks for your input!

I saw Mary's siloutte on my way home from work this morning. As I was headed west on Cty E. and heading down the hill (new bridge) I saw her standing at the bottom. I blinked and she was gone. It was about 6:05 am.. So I had my brights on..

It could have just been shadowplay from the bright lights hitting something and casting a human-shaped shadow.

I think Mary of Elk Creek is very interesting considering a woman did really get killed in that area. It would be interesting to go out and conduct another investigation at this place. Everyone always has an interesting story to tell. I personally feel sad when I'm there because of what happened back in 1974. The fact that it's still a cold case is such a shame. But at least people can come and enjoy the great scenery......

I did see your little short film at Elk Lake on youtube, at least I think it was your group. I have been very interested in Elk Lake for some time now, as my wife and I have done our amatuer investigations, and we did experience some events that COULD have been paranormal. My only problem with Caryville is that while all the legends are interesting, there is no evidence of any of it actually happening, such as a little boy freezing at his desk, or a priest hanging himself in the belltower. We have also done small investigations at the cemetary, schoolhouse, and church, and we came away with nothing. At Elk Lake, we didn't get any evidence on film, however we had some wierd occurances happen such as the digital camera stopped working while onsite. The batteries were good, and the camera started working again immediately after we left. We returned another time and the camera worked, but we didn't get any viable evidence. That being said we plan to go back again, with some audio recording equipment. We are both just doing this as a hobby, so we do not have much more than a camera.

Personally I think there has been much less activity at Elk Lake since the road remodel.

bradc1014: Yes that was our video that you saw on Mary of Elk Creek. It is very interesting over there. I personally have never felt anything odd but my husband and one of our team members have felt a presence or just something they couldn't explain. I think a lot of it has to do with the real murder of Mary Kathleen Schlais who was killed back in 1974 and her murder is still a cold case. You will have to post more if you do any further investigations! Regarding Caryville yes, many of the legends just seem too strange to be true. I think that whatever IS out there, it has nothing to do with the actual legends which have been spun. People have had odd experiences. That boat landing sometimes gives me a feeling of that I shouldn't be there. However, it's way out in the middle of nowhere and very isolated. There's woods all around and water so there are strange sounds like critters in the woods, etc. And you know what? Just because you have a camera doesn't mean you can't investigate!! It all starts with a camera. :-) The fact that you go out there and try to uncover mysteries if very cool...keep it up!! barbs: Yeah maybe since redoing the road there IS less activity, that's very possible. darkman: Have you had experiences there? I know when I was down in the woods on another night with my husband and team member Dennis, I was holding out our EMF reader and I asked if Mary was present can she make the needle spike. It spiked! However I noticed power lines and a house that was nearby so thought maybe it was interference. Thanks for posting everyone!! Devon Bell, co-founder of The Haunting Experiments

I certainly will post evidence if I run across any out there. From what I hear about the place, most of the activity seems to happen during the daytime hours. My current job has my driving around alot and sometimes if I happen to be driving past the dam, I will stop to eat my lunch at the park right there. I always seem to get that eerie feeling, but maybe that is because I am so aware of the history of the place. I believe Chad Lewis mentioned that one of the reported phenomena there is cameras malfunctioning, which we did not know until after ours had experienced it.

Yes I think I remember reading that Chad Lewis stated there have been camera problems while down at the dam. Hey, that's a great idea to eat your lunch at the park! It's very beautiful and peaceful. :-)
Well wanted to also say that we just got a new editing computer so are going to be busy working on our Caryville documentary. I will post with more information (when it will be released, etc) when I can!
Happy ghost hunting everyone!
