Me and some of my friends are having a debate about the movie Paranormal Activity. In a scene, an Ouiji board catchesfire randomly. My "friend", Jason, things that it is real. I'm here for answers. Has anyone experianced this happening before?

It's not impossible, I know someone who put a Ouiji board through a wood chipper and have it show up in their closet, whole. But thing's don't usually self-combust. I wouldn't put it past the thing to catch fire cause of a dark entity though.

Don't mess with them at all. They can open up a door and attract some very nasty entities.

It's crazy you say this..My mom told me how she threw her Ouiji board in the middle of the street and saw it get run over and destroyed then went inside and found it in the house in perfect condition the next day..That Ouiji board is now in the basement in my parents house..I've had some weird experiences using that Ouiji board myself.. It's not impossible, I know someone who put a Ouiji board through a wood chipper and have it show up in their closet, whole. But thing's don't usually self-combust. I wouldn't put it past the thing to catch fire cause of a dark entity though.

not gonna lie, you probably should rethink your involvement with ouija board usage. all the stories i've heard involving them never turn out good.

hummmm....
ok, well - as I've stated a few times on here, I really wish this forum would have more activity and basically "spring back to life" - so I really don't want to offend anybody at all!
I think it's fine for people to have different beliefs! I think people are able to respect each other's differing beliefs and still get along just fine.
So having said that.....
I believe a Ouija Board is nothing more than an inanimate object.
It has absolutely no "power" (evil or good, for that matter) apart from the power that we individuals give it. I also happen to believe that's true of everything....I mean, I don't believe that anything is inherently "EVIL" - I believe that certain actions done by people can be considered to be "evil" but not that evil exists as it's own defined property.
So to keep all of this "on topic" - sonofdeath's original question about the movie "Paranormal Activity" and the scene where the Ouija Board bursts into flames.....
For me, personally, that was where the whole movie just fell apart. I thought it was EXCELLENT up until that point - but the scene with the Ouija Board pushed the movie over the edge into the whole "silly and laughable" domain.
I am absolutely, 100% sure that such a thing has never occured in real life....but I'm guessing anybody could easily find people on the internet who'll happily claim it happened to them.
These are all just my own humble opinions, of course.

I've played with the Ouija board quite a bit as a teenager and I've come to the conclusion that it's hokey. I respect everyone's opinions but this is just my thoughts.

People are often mislead into believing that the Ouija Board is a harmless game. Whether something happens immediately or not you've given permission to entities that should be left alone--the results of which may be years down the road.

I am a fairly open-minded skeptic about the paranormal. I think there is something going on out there and have experienced my share of strange things I can't explain, yet. On the other hand, I have been able to debunk and explain a lot of activity people have reported. I tend to keep an open mind to others ideas about the paranormal, but I do not have to agree.
On the matter of Ouija boards I can't agree that this game is paranormal in nature. Granted, the precursor of the Ouija board game was used by spiritualists to make contact with dead loved ones, and we all know that a good majority of spiritualist back in the day were fakers and preyed on the emotions of those grieving for their dead. It was as it is now, some people are going to fall for and believe without doubt that the person using this device or a similar one was genuine and they actually spoke to a loved one from beyond the veil of death. As bobbybuka mentioned, they gave an inanimate object more power than it actually has, which is none. Any device that you have to put hands on to manipulate is prone to providing unreliable information.
I am sorry, but there is no paranormal or evil power in the Ouija board. You can write numbers and letters, yes and no on a piece of paper and have a Ouija board for super cheap. You can even use your computer key board. These items are not paranormal but they can do the same thing.
When I was a kid I played with the Ouija board and it was fun. We sat around in the dark telling ghost stories and then scared the crap out of ourselves, but I have never had anything evil visit me or cause me problems. It is a game!
Logic and critical thinking is a must when dealing with the paranormal.

True Mark, Back to the movie I agree with bobby. It was a joke if you want paranormal video's watching A Haunting is just as good if not better. Even if they are real stories they're distorted, real stories.
