Are you able to take pictures of ghosts with a regular digital camera or get ghosts on film with a camcorder? I know you can but I'm just wondering if you need to have a certain kind of camera to do this.

well....I'm certainly no "expert in the field" or anything, but when you think back over the years and years of "ghost photography" - it just seems to me that any camera (either digital or "old fashioned" film) has the potential to capture something supernatural.
I think most of what we think of as "famous ghost pictures" were just captured using regular cameras with regular film.

I would also suggest looking into Moditronics full-spectrum cameras. I think you can go to the Ghost Store on line and they have them listed there. ( I am not associated with or endorse this location, I only know that they have these type of cameras)
The full-spectrum camera is not the absolute but it is a suggestion. Any camera out there has the potential, as bobbybuka mentions.
In fact, I would not start out trying to purchase some fancy expensive camera, start out with simple cheap digital cameras and if you feel the need then you can work up from there. So far, out of the thousands of photographs our team has taken, I would say only one has turned up something that might be interesting, but we are still not sure.
Good luck!

I definitely remember about 10 years ago (or so) reading about different paranormal experts who believed that you had to use "old fashioned film" (as opposed to digital photography) if you're going to capture a spirit on camera.
The opinion seemed to be that it was the "make up" of the film itself (nitrocellulose or cellulose acetate coated with the silver halide) that had the ability to capture pictures of supernatural entities....and since digital photography was a completely different technology, the new digital camera were useless on any sort of "ghost hunt".....but, I don't know, it seems to me like that just isn't the "common opinion" any longer.
I have a digital camera (a "moderately priced" sony) and I love it! I think digital cameras have caused a whole "renaissance" in photography....after the initial cost of the camera itself (plus accessories like memory card, etc) you have the ability to take an infinate amount of pictures. Those you don't like are easily discarded (deleted) and those you like are easily shared with family, friends, facebook users or whatever. Suddenly everybody can be an amatuer photographer!
But I do still wonder if the "difference" between the two technologies (digital vs film) does cause any real "variation" with the final product....I'm saying, I think there are still professional photographers who still only use film (now I'm talking about for any and all professional photography...weddings and such) - so I guess it's possible that it could make a difference which one you'd use when attempting any sort of ghost photography.
But as I said earlier - I'm no "expert" in any of this!!! I've just read that people claim to have success with both film cameras and digital cameras.
-actually, a few of the times that I've been "ghost hunting" I've actually bought cheap disposable "film cameras" to bring along in addition to my digital camera - just to see if there would be any difference between the two.....so far, I haven't had much luck capturing a picture of a ghost with either one.
