I would like to correct discussion on this murder back in November 1981. Some posts have incorrect information. I lived in Bloomer, knew the Dietche's personally and also as a person who dealt with business affairs for Willies Trailer Sales.
The Dietsche's, Wilbur and Lenora owned Willies Trailer Sales located just of the exit of Highways 53 and 64. They lived just east of the business and had a mobile home park adjacent to their home. One of their tenants was a young male who was "strange". He wore a wool overcoat even it hot weather. Many of the park tenants expressed their concerns to the Dietsche's in fear for their children. It is said the Dietsche's had warned this tenant to leave children alone, but he continued "playing" with them. Dietsche's apparently had warned this tenant several times and finally told him if this continued he would be asked to leave the park.
Best guess is he cracked and decided to kill the Dietsche's. It was reported he went to the home, found Lenora Dietsche in the back yard hanging up clothes and shot her. He then went to the business and shot Wilbur Dietsche, their son Artie and a worker by the last name of Stolt.
He became the primes suspect and and was spotted when a local farmer west of Bloomer had this "suspect" come to his farm and ask for some kind of assistance. The farmer notified authorities and they closed in on the person. He drove off the roadway into a farm field that held a grove of pine trees. He was spotted by air plane to be carrying a shotgun. The plane observed the gun discharge and was found dead by his own hand.

I apologize for posting nearly the same info that was posted a couple posts earlier. When I first came upon this site and discovered the discussion on the "Bloomer Massacre", I saw some info posted that was truly wrong. In attempting to become a member, it took some time for me to be approved. When I was, I failed to go back to Tdietsche's post.
Yes, truly a tragedy, a totally upstanding family taken from us. We still see this same stuff today, like the Colorado massacre. You just never know when you will come in the crossfire of one of these maniacs. Nuff said....Just remember Tdietsche and Sue; we will never forget that day either in part because we have experienced losing our daughter in this manner as well.

Steve,
Thanks for your comments. Sue, Nancy, Diane's children and I appreciate it.
Although it has been many years, we will never forget the horror of that day, or of how such mass murders keep happening.
Until the US Congress has the guts to get serious about gun control, this will keep happening. But since the NRA keeps buying elections for its captive legislators by buying their votes from gun enthusiasts, it won't happen.
It is a sad comment on how US citizens "think".
I own guns and don't blame them, I blame the system that lets mentally disturbed people owning them. That could be fixed, if lawmakers had any guts. But they don't, they are victims of NRA blackmail.
Tom Dietsche
