Feb., 2003 -- Appleton area. I tagged along as my wife, Judy Meinen, was doing a weekend of Healing Touch, Angel therapy and psychic healings. She was scheduled to do a house clearing, but ended up behind schedule as more people came to her; but our 13 year old son, Aaron, who often accompanies her on hauntings, was available, so they wanted him to go.
Now, I'm a fairly open minded guy -- I don't tell people what to believe, since I don't really believe in anything anyway; however, I decided to go along with Aaron in a parental role, just to keep an eye out for him. This was my first "haunting".
We drove to an old farm house where the owners were remodeling the upstairs to rent out. When the four of us (Aaron, I, and the owning couple) walked into the upstairs apt., Aaron, who had been quiet up until now, began to tell us what he sensed.
He saw a little girl running up some stairs that weren't there, and she was carrying flowers. He told of more events and people as we moved through the bare rooms with new woodwork and drywall.
Ever the skeptic, I didn't become alarmed until we returned to the first room we had been in, and it smelled of flowers. Everything else until now had smelled of sawdust. I looked around for a cleaner or air freshner or some other possible source of the smell -- even the lady's perfume -- but to no avail. We couldn't find anything. And remember, this was February, so it wasn't wafting in from outside.
Finally, we went downstairs, where the people lived. Aaron told stories of more children, running around in the kitchen, etc. I spent time looking down here for a possible way that a flowery smell might have drifted upstairs. Nothing.
What I did see, however, was a stairway that went up along the wall where Aaron had seen the girl running up the steps. The top of the stairway, of course, was gone, turned into a floor up above.
The owners (who had intentionally kept us in the dark up until now) then told us some of the history of the house and their experiences, which corroborated with what Aaron had seen -- and we all had smelled.
