Has anyone had any paranormal or odd experiences at High Cliff State Park? On the Indian Mounds Trail, phantom sounds have been witnessed. Birds, insects and small critters have been known to stop prior to unusual events. There seemed to be alot of activity the last time I went.

High Cliff is on the north end of Lake Winnebago, off Highway 57, near Appleton. It requires a day pass or yearly sticker to get in as does all wisconsin state parks. It certainly is worth the drive and cost (buy a yearly, it is about $20, but it will get you in any state park as many times as you want....day pass is $5) Be sure to explore and take pics at the lime kilns there too. It is one of the most beautiful yet intriguing parks I have ever been to. There certainly is something spiritual left here, it is felt as well as heard and seen. EVP's would be interesting to hear. Let us know if you visit soon.

High Cliff is a gorgeous State Park. I've been coming there since I was a child and my grandparents from Menasha first brought me. I would say "come for the park." Don't go there "expecting to see ghosts," although perhaps they are there from time to time.
I have never experienced anything except for a very calming feeling of peace from the indian mounds area in all seasons. I don't go there looking for ghosts. I more or less go there out of respect for the area's beauty and its former residents. The subconcious message I always seem to get is "please respect our land and our memory" and I always act accordingly.
One very interesting thing is that there is a special green moss that only grows on the mounds themselves. It was in bright green bloom as early as March one year. You never see it ANYWHERE except on the mounds themselves. You'll know what I'm talking about if you visit. There is a gorgeous overlook of the entire lake from the cliffs just before you first enter the indian mound trail. On a clear day you can see all of Neenah and Menasha on the opposite end of the lake below.
Often times when I have had a rough week at work, I will just go out to this area and "clear my head." It has never failed to make me feel better about whatever has been weighing me down. I won't say there aren't ghosts there per se. I WILL say that the area seems to "know" why you came out there in the first place. (If that makes any sense)

It is my belief that the land in and around High Cliff have strong "memories" that connect to you. There certainly is something spiritual there. Possibly because it is an ancient burial site. Anyone that disrespects that should not be going there I agree.
