I'll be honest, had to turn off the radio after about forty-five minutes of listening. Great show, I've got to admit, but like a liberal trying to digest Ann Coulter, well, there's only so much one can take. Skeptic would be light for what I'd consider myself, but for future shows, I hope I'll be able to get through more of the show without some strange sense that I should be doing something else.

There's a lot of interesting things said on the portion of the show that I heard. From the strange, the government records everything that happens on the surface from satelite pictures, to the downright odd, to the just plain weird.

I will back up one thing though, we do have anti-matter. Least that's what I remember hearing. A military guy wanted us to put it into bullets, but there's two problems with that: cost and stability. Containing anti-matter is hard enough as it is, and putting it into gun shells probably won't be happening any time soon. The second problem is the difficulty that it would take in producing the stuff. Something like a thimblefull a year can be made with current production levels.

Though to Mark, I'd like to thank you for the accuracy of the prediction to last years election. (I'm pretty sure you're the same guy that was at the podium at the Plaza.) It went, that if the Packers beat the Patriots in the game before the election, Bush would win. Packers won, so good job on that.

Thanks for the feedback. The nice thing about conspiracy theories is that most of them are only theories and may not be true, yet they are interesting to toss around. Last night’s guest Mike Coffield presented ideas that he and others believe are happening around the world, and for many of them, like his prediction of no snow in WI by 2006, we will have to wait and see.

Ok I just need to comment on the no snow idea. I had to chuckle because either these people are wishful thinking or they just haven't spent a winter here. There has to certain conditions for snow, and unless we drasically change to a tropical climate, we will have snow this winter. Some winters less, but needless to say someone will shovel in Wisconsin this winter. I sure wish I had been able to hear this show, so sorry if I am talking without hearing the whole thing. I just thought it was an outstanding idea about no snow by 2006. Anyone else?

Personaly, I would more than happy to say goodbye to the snow! I do enjoy the cold weather, but man, do I hate shoveling! LOL Ya ever try to walk through a cemetery in snow? it's not easy!

But then again, with last week being in the 90s, I just might welcome a few snow flakes right now!

What I really llike about the winter is how cemeteries look... when everything is covered with snow. I take pics of some cemeteries by the season. Pics that only I see most of the time... but it's all about living in Wisconsin (and not California) and having four seasons that are so distinct in appearnace.

My favorite season is Fall (most of the time). I also like spring... how skeleton trees suddenly get green! I just cannot imagine living in a state where it's always the same old same old week after week...

And Chad/Terry... will your radio show ever get aired around the rest of the state? I would kill to hear it!!

Don't let my comment come as a knock against your show. I didn't mind the guest, and there wasn't anything wrong with it in any kind of normal sense. It was more or less my lack of being able to wrap my mind around the subject matter. I can understand how someone can come to believe the things that Mark said, but I'm at a point in my life where I ground things in what I see, and try to avoid thinking too far outside my world. The next time he's on, I'm sure I'll feel less apprehensive then I did, just need some time to re-adjust.

The station is broadcast from downtown Eau Claire. If you go to the FAQ page at www.whysradio.org you can see if you're within range. Kind of hard to pick up if you're doing a manual dial tuner, but putting a digital to 96.3 seems to pick it up fairly well. Though because of its low broadcast range, if you're not within a couple miles of Eau Claire, I'm not sure if the signal will reach you.

Caught most of the last half of the show, and I found it to be educational. On retrospection to how I thought when I heard the show two weeks ago, I'm not exactly sure why I felt offended at the time. I know I've thought of parts of the show as humorous, and I suppose lightening up might help. Good show, interesting to hear about psychological stuff like that. Though calling back to a previous show, visualizing a shield of light when dealing with a manipulative person has helped. Could be power of suggestion, but it helps, so who cares how it works.

Saying I'm up to date would be a bit overdoing it. Though starting tommorow I'll see what I can do. Not certain if I'll be called into work, but if I'm not I'll listen in, take down notes, and post what I can. Though tints of bias might leak through, I'll try to be objective.

The following are notes taken on Sunday, August 7 on The Unexplained. A lot of it isn't going to make sense, and altogether there's probably an hours worth of material not written, due mostly on the speed at which the notes were taken, and various other reasons.


August 7th. First hour: Cropcircle expert Jeffrey Wilson. Second Hour: Callers, Mike Coffield, and World News.

• What are crop formations? Flatened areas of grass or grain. Not all are made by people.
  
• What lead to you're following cropcircles? When younger, read articles from Journal of Meteorology. In '96 took astronomy classes. Went to a cropcircle in Couldon, Ohio, and found higher radiation levels then what should have been there.
  
• Are crop circles often treated like crime scenes? Rarely happens but known to occur where local law enforcement cordons off the area.
  
• Are man made damage through cropcircles vandalism? Outright.
  
• Are only cornfields hit? In the US, wheat is most often hit, followed by corn. Grass, as in hay and barley, and soybeans are also found to have cropcircles.
  
• What about ice, snow, or sand circles, are those real? Hard to say. Since certain methods don't transfer, its difficult to study them.
  
• Where/when did cropcircles start? Cropcircles were first recorded in England in the 1600s. Proffesor of Chemistry from Oxford searched out then within a twenty-five year period.
  
• Prior to 1980, cropcircles have been found. In the '60s they were referred to as 'saucer nests.'
  
• What are the thoughts from the rest of the world? Since the movie Signs was released, a slight rise in the number of hoaxes has occured.
  
• Are black helicopters found around cropcircles? Not in the US, but at least a dozen cases in England.
  
• Why would there be military interest? In 2003 there was an important case. Art Rantella was at his porch and noticed a weatherfront. Crop circles formed in a matter of 10-15 seconds in front of him. The second day a military helicopter, inspected, and 45 minutes after leaving a soldier came to inspect. The soldier claimed to be with the Special Cropcircle Taskforce, but it couldn't be substantiated.
  
• Have there been other times when a military helicopter has been spotted near cropcircles? Military helicopters were noticed three other times during that summer.
  
• Why would the military have interest in cropcircles, but disavow searching for information on UFOs? Possibly, since the source in unknown, the military could be looking to figure out where it comes from, or how to utilize it.
  
• What are the procedures with investigating a crop circle? First a team is assembled from nearby persons. They go to the location and start a forensic investigatino. First they look for mechanical signs of cause. After that, measurements of radiation is conducted, soil samples are taken, and help with local law enforcement is given.
  
• What are some telltale signs that indicate a hoax? Example in Trevor, near the Wisconsin/Illinois border. When flying over concentric circles were noticed in the circles. As people flatten plants they only have limited space. Here they go around and around, leaving marks they've done this. Since this method can't catch all the plants properly many are still sticking up. Damage also happens from this. When people are doing this they can have a post in the center to guide them; the post leaves a hole in the ground. Authentic cropcircles tend to be flattened all at once, and completely.
  
• Russian researchers claim to have found the answer from microwaves due to lightning hitting, swirling in a whirlwind, and that causing the damage. 10-12 years ago a test was done showing similair damage to support this, though the guest doesn't show support for this theory, not enough evidence.
  
• What percentage tends to be a hoax? One in five in the US, around 80% in England.
  
• Are certain places hit more then others? In the US there have been 500 reports. Most of which come from Ohio, followed closely by Iowa, Wisconsin in the top ten. 90% of areas are on a downslope of a hill near a body of water; be it a river, stream, pond, or underground aquafier. 85% of the time they are near powerlines that have a transformer on them. 60% are near Native American archeology areas.
  
• Why Native American burials and such? Speculation is, that before electricity was commonly used, people were more in tune with the Earths natural movement of the invisible waves (micro, radio, magnetic, etc), so where there were anomalies it was believed that the burials were placed for that reason. Host mentioned that the percentage might be higher since the destruction of many of these burial areas.
  
• In England, cropcircles tend to be around archeological areas also, and are primarily located in three counties.
  
• What affect to crop circles have on crops? A host of anomalies are found within ten days. Radioactivity is 2-10 times higher then backround radiation. The electric field is also elevated. Whatever the energy is that causes crop cricles, growth nodes in in grasses becomes stretched, and in these nodes explosions outwards tend to occur because of them. No force has been able to replicate this.
  
• Any evidence of extraterrestial cause of cropcircles? There is not enough evidence for any cause of cropcircles.
  
• New cropcircles this year? Six found in North Carolina. Three fields were cut before investigation, but the other three had the growth node damage.
  
• Timeline of these cropcircles? Between two-three weeks. Late June early July.
  
• Have there been other times when a high number have happened in one area? Yes, and most cropcirlces seem to come in clusters.
  
• Any closer to finding the reason behind them since you started? Different stages of hypothesis, but something is found that disproves it. Perhaps there are multiple causes.

Hour Two

Bigfoot sighting in Canada were hair was found. An expert looked at the hair and thought it to be bison, a DNA analysis corroborated this. Hosts wondered why no bones have been found. Reasons may be that they bury their dead, or if they're left out, it needs to be noted that carcases don't last long in the open. Forests recycle everything they can, so decomposition and the bones beying spread around by scavangers causes further deterioration.

Mike Coffield calls in. NASA leaked that the 10th planet has been found beyond Pluto. Theory: Info withheld so NASA can continue recieving funds. Planet could be Neptune-Jupiter in size. Possibly getting closer. Technically found in 2003. Thought to be a rogue planet, new in the past thousand years.

Could Pluto be kicked off planet list because of this? Likely no. Behind NASA conspiricy, people likely to believe a source like Time magazine. So even though planet found before, since its just been found, according to an officious source, it's more likely to be believed to have just been found.

Through other means, shouldn't the planet have been found already? Probably has been, but back to the conspiricy theory. Could the planet be the 13th planet, or 'Planet X?' Planet X comes around every 10-15 thousand years and causes havoc. Tropical plants found in both the poles lead a theory to go that this planet could have tipped our rotation.

News from Terry. Wierd foods found. Human flesh in a chicken sandwich, dead mouse in a box of Uncle Ben's Rice.

Caller calls in asking about Chad's trip to Minnesota, and says the cemetary in New Alms is haunted. This makes ghosts the consversation, and discussion is had. Ghosts should be more likely, logically, to haunt newer, larger cemetaries then older, smaller ones. This is due to more spirits being there. Reports of hauntings sometimes happen during the day or early morning, but the vast majority are during the night. Symbolisms like anniversaries of death, Friday the 13th, full moon, a cigerette being lit, or spitting on a grave does not seem to work.

News from the world. A man in Norway managed to film part of a sea serpent on the water a year ago. This lead to a researching going to the area. When there sonar picked up two 16.5' objects, and a hydrophone picked up heavy vibrations, possibly from creatures making noise.

Wierd science: NASA has built a tricorder that can scan and pick up if there's life. Scientists are attempting to build a transporter, too. They say its possible, not with today's technology, but possibly feasible. A machine to monitor and read brain waves lead to the theory that reading people's minds possible.
