Does anyone no anything about this road I've been there once and it is pretty creepy but some sources say to stay out of the woods on the left side and I'm really curious as to why. Is there some kind of story?

Jefferson - Paradise Road - Witnesses report feeling an eerie presence. They have heard inhuman screams, seen short, robed shapes in the woods, and have even seen a raccoon, decapitated, with blood glistening in the headlights, but no blood on the road and no head anywhere in sight. Location is on Paradise Road, a right turn shortly after you pass Saint Colletta's. Advice is to STAY OUT OF THE WOODS ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE.

hey there, I am new to the site and I grew up in Jefferson and have been down Paradise Road many times. I have heard all the stories, never experanced anything myself. I do know that the blood in the headlight story: not really true. At some point someone put up red reflectors on the trees along the road, There was a bar not far from there called Paradise Bar, and there were many accendents on the road from people leaving the bar to check out the woods. I have heard of people hearing "screams", but never heard anything myself. It can be a spookie area seeing there are alot of heavy tree cover and the road get vary dark on certain nights. Hope this helps. I have heard alot of various stories about the road and the woods, and it seems to only be the left side of the road that they claim is Haunted! Hope this helps.

yeah, paradise road near jefferson is anything but haunted..i went to check it out with some friends and as long as we say there with the engine of the car off standing outside, not a single noise was heard or anything. a few steps into the woods got a little creepy just because you cannot see but 5 feet in front of you. the only reason the road got a reputation(i'm guessing) is because of the enclosed feeling you get from the woods on both sides. to me, not haunted. but if anyone gets any different results let me know, because my experience was less than satisfying.

The book Wierd Wisconsin had a segment in it about Paradise Road...I think one of the stories talked about a family (sisters) of witches who lived in the woods, hundreds of years ago.
It's the usual story. The villagers got mad and hung them in the trees that now line Paradise Road.
I was there earlier this winter. I didn't have anything happen, but I would like to go back when it's warmer, and the trees are covered.

I just went for the first time last Sunday. I was alone during the day and didn't get out. Pretty uneventful but still glad I drove through. Excited to go back after the leaves are back on the trees, then I will make a night-time visit, I am sure that will be much more exciting...
