Hello, My name is Rob Hopper and I am the founder of the Black Hills Paranormal group.. We are always looking for members if you are interested please visit our site at Black-hills-paranormal.orgBlack Hills Paranormal was established in an effort to substantiate the existence of paranormal phenomenon, regardless of the level of activity. In essence, BHP was formed for no other reason than to search for documented truth and set it free to both skeptics and believers alike. As a collective unit, BHP does enter each assignment with a certain amount of skepticism. This rationalization lists for one primary reason. The Black Hills Paranormal Team requires irrefutable documented evidence of a specific haunting prior to declaring our concluding report as a genuine haunting. Not withstanding, BHP has committed itself to assist anyone who maintains they are experiencing any form paranormal activity, passive or aggressive, free of charge. Regardless of the investigative outcome.

My wife and I are looking for paranormal research groups in the Blackhills. We actually live in Minnesota but are planning our eventual retirement near Deadwood. We do a lot of research on our own and would like to work with others. We can also be reached through our blog: boomingprairiechicken.spaces.live.com/

There are actually several restaurants in Deadwood that might fit that description right now. Do you know what businesses are around it?

I barely remember as it was over 15 years ago. I know it was downtown, I remember seeing a motorcycle in a building but not sure. I'd have to ask my parents they might know more than me.I think it was really bright in there.

There is a restaurant/casino across the street from the old Fairmont hotel that might be that. They often have a motorcycle in the lobby there but it isn't a 1920's decor. Now the thing is a lot of the establishments in Deadwood change their decor regularly. The fact of the matter is there have been at least a half-dozen new places opened and quite a few closed within just the last year! They are also working on turning the old slime plant south of town into a hotel! The economy of the town is such that change is fairly constant.

Laurie and I had to compare notes on this; that restaurant is called 'Mustang Sallys'. I don't know of anything interesting with Sallys; art deco style and a little out of place but definitely good food. Right across Galena from Sallys is the old Fairmont Hotel. It would not shock me to find out the Fairmont was haunted. I know there was a murder there in 1907 and it was the site of a lot of unusual events - including a Speakeasy during prohibition.

Deadwood has a lot of ghost reports around the old brothel locations in the town. The best known is the old Green Door brothel. We are working on getting some more current witness accounts from that one. The Bullock is already pretty well known for the activity there. The fact is we love staying at the Bullock but are just not as interested in the ghost reports there. We are also collecting stories from around Sturgis. The old army post there seems to have a lot of stuff. Many of the original buildings from the 1870's and 1880's are still there and in use. It also isn't far from Bear Butte and that place has a lot of apparition reports. The thing is you need to be careful at Bear Butte since it is still a holy site for the Cheyenne. You will frequently see them there performing ceremonies. We are in the middle of looking up a lot of the old mining sites around the Blackhills. I have managed to get the GPS mapping for a lot of these. I am betting that some of these might have activity around them. boomingprairiechicken.spaces.live.com/

Hello all, new here so bear with me. I am retiring after 26+ years as a police officer and moving to the Black Hills in May of this year, I already purchased a house so all set . My wife retired last year after 28 years as a CSI for the same department. We have been interested in conducting paranormal investigations but, with our schedules it has been difficult to get the time. I had an experience that still has me scratching my head and asking a lot of questions. We would really love to join up with a group, but I have been having a heck of a time finding any groups in Black Hills. I see by this thread that there has not been much action and hope that someone that checks it can point me in the right direction. Thanks all for your time and patience and looking forward to some good discussion. Mark

Uncle Buck, My wife and I actually live in Minnesota, for now, but we travel to the Black Hills about six times a year. We do quite a bit of research on the history of the area and this often slips into the paranormal events of the area. We try to stay in contact with other people with a serious interest in this. We keep a blog on which we put some of our information. We can't put everything we find there and the range of topics tends to change quite a bit. Still our major topic tends to be ghosts and the paranormal. Please visit and feel free to contact us. boomingprairiechicken.spaces.live.com/Brad and Laurie Butturff

jomiller, I'll tell you the truth; this might not be the best message board to find such a group on. I've been hunting for a good group anywhere within South Dakota and not had much luck. The only two such groups I've found don't seem particularly active. Now if this isn't the case it would certainly be nice if they would contact us! boomingprairiechicken.spaces.live.com/
