Everything below is 100% true.
I was getting ready to go to sleep. I turned our lamp off and closed my eyes ready for the day to be over. I started to hear this clicking. Everyone else in the house was asleep. It was extremely loud and I was sitting there wondering how these people could sleep through this noise. And it just seemed to get louder. It was like to peaces of metal crashing into one another over and over again.
I got up and went to the room were it sounded like it was coming from, the laundry room. The door was closed. I put my ear up to it and the second my ear touched the door the sound just stopped.
I opened the door and nothing was there. I looked around for any bugs or anything that could have made the sound but found nothing. The dryer wasn't running and the clothes inside were cold. I found no bugs or anything. The sound was so unnatural it was nerving.
Any ideas if this is anything paranormal?

Very strange, it could of been anything, and it could have been something you may not want to know about. Has it happened anymore since then?

I have had a similar type of thing happen lately... Twice in the past month, a *breaking sound* happening... in the middle of the night. It's been one of those "did I hear a noise like that?" type of feelings... when you lay in bed, woken up a few minutes before it happens, and you hear the noise loud and clear, and everyone else is asleep. I made my rounds thru the house (which is about 2,000 sq. ft and a charmingly 100 years old) and there was no reason why I heard that noise -- and I will insist that the noise was from the same room as what I was in. I pulled the sheets up to my nose and tried to fall back asleep.
Clueless to what it was, and for this being my house (not just an apartment rental), I will continue living here.
One step in reverse, I have had many "Wednesday morning awakenings" in the past 4.75 years... that were silent for most of it. Those -- I credit my deceased Grandma for... right down to the early wake up call I received, right after she died... I was already awake, I knew she died, and sat there, waiting for the call from my dad.
But this crack/breaking sound has me concerned...
Strange noises in the middle of the night, and now I see it's not just in my house! Good luck with yours, demonfreak!
