We made it to church road cemetary today. And of course we got lost at first, I was going to turn right on to maas road off of hwy 16. Didin't see the road and we ended up in portage, so we went down industrial road and on to hwy o and found our right turn to church road. My wife made a video on her digital camera and said that it was a typical road trip getting lost and the signs were not marked. There was a ton of junk on the road in front of the entrance. most of the graves were from the 1800's.

is it illegal to not mark a county road after 3-4 miles? When we made a right turn from industrial road to county o , there were no signs anywhere that said county o, even at every intersection before we made our right turn on to church road and we were on county o for 3-4 miles before our right turn to church road. I mean every time i'm on county a by lake delton the county sign appears after every 2-3 miles.I found it odd that church road was marked and not county o, but I did notice by wisconsin dells county o was marked.

Went to Church Rd tonight. I was on my way back from the Dells and had no map so I had to go off of my memory from looking at it on Google maps. It was tough to find. I couldn't remember that it was on O, all I could remember was that it was on the road between 16 and the river. I think I did pretty well going blind with only that to go off of. I did make one wrong turn, or went straight rather when O curved off. It was really weird, we ended up going in a circle and ended out right back where we started, which didn't seem right. Anyways, just when we had almost given up, there it was. I think my friend was more suprised than me, I had a feeling I was on the right track. When we finally got there we drove down and it turns out that it was closed. At the end of the straight part of the road right before the curve there was a big gate and all sorts of no tresspassing signs. We were disappoined after all that searching. We considered jumping the fence (prolly wouldnt have gotten caught tresspassing, theres nothing out there) but I was way too scared to leave the car and venture out there with just the 2 of us. I wasn't sure how far past the fence it was either, and now that I look it does seem like a little bit of a hike. We made the right choice. It was odd how it had an address posted there, I guess it makes sense but still weird. I wonder what time they close the gate. I also wonder who closes it, doesn't seem like there would be too many visitors with all the graves there being so old. They probably get more traffic from folks legend tripping than from visiting loved ones who have passed away. I'm excited to go back when it is open.

if there was an address, try writing to it. maybe get permission to go in there. then you wouldn't have to worry about getting caught. the worst they can tell you is "no".

wow!!!!!! we were there about 2-3 weeks ago on a saturday afternoon and there was no gate or any trespassing signs. But we were there around 5 in the evening. I had my voice recorder too along with my camera and journal. did you see all the junk in front of the gate??? all sorts of halloween debris. The tree in front of the gate was creepy. We too got lost at first but found our way from chad's directions.

I went back yesterday. First of all I just want to clear up a bit of confusion. As I said previously when we went there the first time we went to the end of the road and there was a closed, locked, posted gate. When we went back yesterday during the day, the gate was still locked. We went around and started walking down the dirt road. I thought that the cemetery was at the end of the dirt with the locked gate. As we were walking my friend said he saw some gravestones as we were driving up the road, so we turned around and went back that way to check it out. I guess I was wrong. The cemetery is located on the left side of the road about 50 feet before the end turnaround. I felt kindof stupid thinking back the night we drove around in circles to find the place and then got there just to have turn around and leave. We were literally right next to it. So our visit yesterday seemed pretty uneventful at first. We got to the end of the road and were surprised to see some cars back there. There was some sort of funny business going on. Two vehicles and a guy from the first vehicle was sitting in this ladies car. We totally spooked them. As soon as we got there he got out of her card and left in his own. As he was leaving I asked him, "what time do they lock the gate" he said "It's always locked". Then we found the cemetery. There were a lot of bugs there, especially misquitoes. There were patches of lillies of the valley in the woods right off the cemetery. More lillies of the valley than i have ever seen in my whole life. We hung out for a while and i shot some video on my digital camera. When we went to leave my friend Todd felt something on his arm, when he looked down he had a bruise that he did not recall having. I saw it and the odd part is that within the next few minutes it grew in size and swelled up to form a large lump. It was not like that at first. When we got home, we watched the video. Right near the end there was something on it. Here is a photo from the spectrology section for reference I was standing about 25 feet in front and to the right of the big tree in the center. I was panning the camera looking up towards the back right corner. What showed up on film is pretty amazing. Now you can't see it quite the same on this photo as in the video, but when you look up to the back of the cemetery you can see a line of trees at the back of the cemetery and then the sky behind it. It was on this line at the edge of the cemetery that we saw something. It was probably 35-50 yards away from where i was standing, and it looked like a shadowy figure. My friend Todd saw if first and asked, "What's that"? I said it was a gravestone, but when we looked closer it couldn't be. When you continue to watch it ends up splitting into two and then another appears about 30 feet to the left. It all happens pretty fast. Then when you slow down the tape, it get really crazy. You can see the shadow person standing there but it doesn't really look too much like a person at that point. Then as it splits, it looks like 2 people walking out of each other. You can make out their heads and their shoulders. The turn and its as it you can even see arms and legs and their posture. It looks as though they are from the olden days. I say this because at one point it almost looks like one of them is wearing what looks like a cowboy hat and another looks like a lady wearing a dress. It's like they are just standing there at the edge of the cemetery checking us out. Then they split into 3. It is so crazy how you can see them move, you can barely believe your eyes, it gave me the eebie-jeebies. I have to get a cord to upload it to my computer and I will try to get it posted. UPDATE 06-07-09 We went back Friday night right at dusk on our way to Ringling. The video was in fact a really good optical illusion. It turned out to be headstone in the shadows. The video is still a really good representation of how your eyes can play tricks on you.

parfrey's glen is not haunted at all. Its a trail you walk along and you are next to a creek. Its part of devils lake, I have been there hundreds of times, I was just there a week and a half ago. It was closed from june 2008 until last month because of the flooding. Its an awesome place to meditate and take in the natural beauty and great for photos.
