One of my good friends grew up on Janesville. I rode down there with him yesterday from Madison. He told me about a place just north of downtown Janesville with a structure called the Dizzy Houses. We ended up going there to look for it. We didn't actually find it, (it may have been torn down) so I am giving you information based on what he has told me. The Dizzy Houses are not a houses at all, it is/was some sort of big concrete structure that was used for storage of corn. I guess that when you crawl inside you get disorientated because one of the corners of the foundation had sunk so the structure is on a slant and not level. The walk back to the area where it should be is rather interesting. First it's just a normal walk through the woods, but after about a 5 minute walk you have to take a side trail on the left down a really steep trail that is hard to navigate. It's about 50 feet down to another trail that you take to the left. It was an interesting hike. I don't know where exactly the Dizzy houses were once you get down there but I would like to go explore more. He also said that there was a murder there in the 90's. I want to try to find out more about that too. Does anyone know more about any of this? To find the entrance to the path go to the intersection of Caroline and Benton on Janesville then walk back towards the woods. The beginning of the trail is marked with small boulders on both sides.
