So my mom and I were talking about ghosts the other day because of something we saw or TV or something. I'm, personally, a skeptic but I love history and consider folklore and legends to be extremely important so I tend to watch shows like "A Haunting" and the like anyway.
When I told my mom that I didn't believe in any sort of life after death, she told me about an experience one of her friends had. I know this guy, he's about as exciting as watching grass grow and makes the Visine guy look lively. He's also a Pulitzer Prize winner (or at least a nominee, I forget which, my mom is a journalist and knows quite a few winners and nominees). Point being, this guy is the LAST person I would EVER expect to believe in ghosts.
It seems he used to live in this place (I'm assuming in Pennsylvania) that just freaked the hell out of him. She wouldn't tell me much because admitting it, even to her, embarrassed the hell out of him. All she would tell me originally was that he could just feel a palpable evil in the house. Just the other day, I got her to tell me what was the last straw. There was something that looked like a "dark swirling vortex" on the ceiling in the living room. He fled the house and never went back.
Like I said, I'm still pretty much a skeptic and would much sooner believe that there were powerfully electromagnetic compounds around the house that messed with his brain but I would believe in it being paranormal activity if I had sufficient evidence or reason to believe so.
Point being, has anyone ever heard about this type of thing before? If it were any of her other friends, I would have probably blown it off. However, this guy is basically like me in that he doesn't buy into hocus pocus stuff. I wish I had more details but she refused to tell me anymore.
