I was just wondering, does anybody here know of any haunted hospitals or nursing homes in the Milwaukee area (or anywhere in Wisconsin in general)? I've long been interested in abandoned/haunted hospitals (the medical kind, not the insane asylum kind). Anyways, any comments/stories appreciated. Thanks!

I did a couple stories of hospitals in the Madison area. There's the old Lakeview Sanitarium (Tuberculosis patients) beethoven23.tripod.com/Dane/SanatoriumHill.html& the Stoughton Hospital beethoven23.tripod.com/Dane/StoughtonHosp.htmlI know that the hospital in Edgerton, WI. is also supposed to be haunted by a former nurse. There is also the ghost of a young boy that haunts a Nursing Home in Manitowoc. I'm sure, I have read of haunted hospitals in the Milwaukee area, but of course, I can't think of their names right now (big help, eh?)

The Milwaukee Academy of Science is a newer school located where I believe the old Sinai hospital used to be in Milwaukee. This is located on Kilbourn near Marquette. They converted it into a school, but there is still a lot that is going on there. Chairs will move, sinks will turn on for no reason. The old morgue is now a classroom. There is still one floor that hasn't been converted yet and there is still a lot of old medical equipment there. My wife works at the school right now.

Theirs an abandoned hospital in Waldo, Wisconsin down by Sheboygan. The owner has 2 german sheppards and watches the property closely, so least you could do is ask him. Not sure if it's honted or not but I think shock theropy was performed here www.strangeusa.com/ViewImage.aspx?uploader=EmoDude&file=userpix%2fuploads%2fEmoDude-4-24-2009-9-43-14-PM-9177.JPG&description=The second one is the old Maplecrest Sanitorium. Now demolished ( so people say ) and very secure. Owner is very rude and renters will call the cops on you ( renovated nun rectory on property ) Also rumored to be haunted... www.strangeusa.com/ViewImage.aspx?uploader=The Doors 5252&file=userpix%2fuploads%2fThe-Doors-5252-7-29-2008-11-20-20-AM-4499.jpg&description=This+is+that+dirt+road+that+leads+to+the+sanatorium.+Remember%2c+the+renter+is+a+cop+and+even+considers+it+to+go+on+the+dirt+road+that+leads+to+the+sanatorium.+I+will+not+give+out+the+renter+or+owners+name+for+their+privacy. www.strangeusa.com/ViewImage.aspx?uploader=The Doors 5252&file=userpix%2fuploads%2fThe-Doors-5252-7-29-2008-11-17-52-AM-6811.jpg&description=This+is+the+water+tower+for+the+abandoned+sanatorium+in+Whitelaw%2c+Wi A few weeks ago in Manitowoc their was an old 3 story section of a nursing home that was shut down for awhile and JUST got fully demolished about a week ago, so you missed out on that... Just a correction on that last comment above mine -- the nursing home is still open and going... they built other divisions of it, in building clusters down and around the block. The old part is being taken down, and if you look closely, you can see where they are already building the new part that will replace it.
I am a city resident here, and I have to drive past daily with my errands, so it's intruiging to watch. But it's not that the nursing home is going no where. They are just keeping up with the Jones' and Smith's...

The old Northwest General Hospital on Capitol Dr is reportedly haunted. I have reports of hauntings in the old ER and up on in the old ICU and operating room.
The old St Mary's hospital on N lake Dr. In the original hospital which is all offices now. The other buildings that were there that I posted about before I believe are gone now that the new hospital is built.
The Waukesha county Huber facilty has many area's that the employee's will not go in because of sightings and strange events. These area's are no longer in use. A couple years ago someone came to do a paranormal investigation there but I never heard anything more about it or if anything was found. ( I work for Waukesha county )

Yeah, i work in one! Fond du lac is full of them, haunted nursing homes that is. Co-workers have seen everything from balls of light, rocking chairs rocking, voices and strange noises, lights going on and off, a cross flying off the wall, and i even saw a full bodied apparation walk though the wall into a restroom, it was so real i really thought it was a resident and when i went there to check no one was in there. Another nursing home i worked at in the past, we had all the doors slam shut one night, it made a believer out of one of the nurses working there among other events. But the only abandoned nursing home is the old Rolling Meadows Nursing Home off of hwy 41, it also on the site of an old insane asylum. Anyway, i know nurses that have worked there and they tell me stra8 out that its haunted, the third floor being the hot spot. I would love to go in that place, but i dont think it will ever happen.

I am wondering if anyone has a description of the nurses ghost who is at Edgerton Hospital. My mother was a nurse there for 30 years or so and also died there. She always told me that if there was a way possible that she would show herself after life. Her favorite place to work was in the original building that was at one time a long term care unit. By the way, she worked 3rd shift and i read this spirit shows herself on 3rd shift.

(not trying to dig into your personal life at all, but I live in that area and had read about the haunting of Edgerton Hospital on the web - so I tried to do some research on the whole subject a few years ago) The "ghost" is called "Nurse Nancy" and it's pretty much an "established ghost story" in Edgerton....so, I mean - it doesn't seem to be something that was made up on the internet. Nurse Nancy has been part of the "local folklore" of Edgerton for decades! The story dates back long before ghost stories began to appear online, so I'd say it falls into the whole "urban legend" catagory. I met one guy who grew up in Edgerton who says the story was around as far back as the 1950's (his father had worked at the hospital and talked of the Nurse Nancy tale back then) this is the best account I've read online about it: www.associatedcontent.com/article/624413/haunted_places_in_edgerton_wi.html?cat=16according to the person who wrote that, Nurse Nancy had never married and had no relatives in the area....but who knows? I have to ask, was your mother's name "Nancy" - !?!

Ive been hearing some things and nurses have been telling me stories about call lights going on in empty rooms where a child has died. and even children laughing. i have a recorder with me as always. just don't know if i have the heart to handle what i might hear. know what I'm saying?

honestly, thats one of the things that scares me regarding hospitals. there are so many different people in different situations passing through those doors each day, and so many different emotions and energy, is it no wonder that hospitals tend to be alive in the paranormal? I do agree that there could be some good EVP samples collected, but as you said, the actual collecting of them may be more heartwrenching than expected.
