I am a hunter and hunting guide, and leased some land to guide hunters on about a year and a half back. In the main gate to the place, I've always had a strange feeling that someone was around watching me,near or after dark, when leaving my truck to hunt before dawn or coming back after dark. I've actually stopped and looked around to see who's there but nobody ever is. Early this spring I began running my dogs there, and from the first day and ever since, one dog would whimper and stay right at my side until we got way away from the truck. The other dog would not leave the truck until I shoved her out, then she would run away and will never return to me until I start the truck and move down the road then she will get in, meeting me at the bottom of the ridge. I figured a bobcat was around and the scent scares most dogs. Then my dad just three weeks ago took his dog with him to put up a deer stand, very near where we've been parking. His dog barked continuously and would not come no matter what. As my dad tied his ladder stand to the tree and sat and looked around for the first time he started seeing stones. It turns out that there is a pre-civil war cemetary, Bush cemetary, grown over and hidden there. The thing is my dogs will run and play and have a great time when walking other cemetary paths, and I've never felt uneasy either, and thats when I know I'm in a cemetary at night.
It also turns out that a local girl gives tours of this cemetary, day and night. Once I met her I paid her the $75. for the night tour of Bush cemetary in Missouri,(even though I already have access to it, and am already spooked by it) Teadrow, Terre Haute, and Davis City cemetaries in Iowa. They are all within 25 miles of where I've lived for 35 years and I never heard of any of them. Well worth the bucks just to find them, and four haunted cemetaries in one night is pretty cool! It works out to $18.75 per cemetary tour and we were out for like 6 hrs. She also will take you to them all in daylight for $50. and you may return after dark on your own, except for Bush which I trust her to take people at night, but will not allow folks I don't know there without her. Got some very strange pictures which I will post if I can learn how. And will definitely bust the ghost stories if I can, but after one night I almost believe them! Orbs and faces all around me in the dark, and I wasn't scared til I saw the pics. I can now arrange tours if anyone is interested. Nothing in it for me except it's fun. Oh! and also my mother now tells me that grandma tells her that we are related to the Teadrow family. More fun!
