I just recently joined and would like to share some Edina, MN stories. Despite Edina's reputation it is an old city with a lot of history.
Along Minnehaha Creek, a creek that runs through most of "old school" Edina, there are a few houses that are known to have unexplained happenings. A friend of my families lived in one of these houses. We'll call her Sam. Sam lived alone with her little dog in an old house on the bank of Minnehaha Creek. There was a huge bay window in the front of the house and to get out to the creek you would go down into the basement and out the door. Sam would have friends over quiet a bit when she first moved in and my mom was one of the attendees. To start off small, Sam would go to bed at night and wake up to running water in the bathroom. The water was turned on so hard that it would over flow. After she turned it off and went back to sleep she would eventually wake up again to the same thing. Sam also would lock the dog in the basement when company was visiting so he wouldn't bother people. This dog was a terrier similar to the one on "Frasier". Due to this house being quit old and just off the creek the doors would stick. You had to hit the doors with your shoulder to open them. After Sam put the dog in one of the basement rooms and went up stairs sure enough here came Sparky bouncing up after her every time.
During one of Sam's get-togethers her coffee pot stopped working. We had all heard about the strange things going on but didn't think anything of it. This coffee pot has never been a problem for Sam. Once it stopped working Sam yelled out, "Alight, we all know you are here so please turn the coffee pot back on." As Sam finished her sentence the coffee pot turned on and was never a problem after that. Sounds weird but explainable, I know. After this happened there was one event that was a little more annoying and strange. Sam ended up moving but not because she was frightened. Her life took a turn of events where she had to move.
One night long after Sam feel asleep, she ended up waking for no reason. She didn't hear water running and the dog was sleeping in the bedroom with her. Sam decided to get up to check out the house. As she walked into the living room from her bedroom she was startled to find two candles burning on top of her Baby Grand piano that sat in front of the big, bay window. What is really strange is that these particular candles where on the mantle above the fireplace when she went to bed.
Sam is a very kind, friendly person who cares about everyone. She is also strong willed and respected by everyone who has the pleasure of meeting her. The ghost never bothered her or even scared her. She was very interested in the happenings that took place and was eager to share them with me. I do believe what Sam told me because I have also experienced things of the same sort.
I'll post more occurrences another time about the house I grew up in and an old recording studio in downtown MPLS. Feel free to email me and I will keep reading stories and other posts that are interesting. Thanks!
