Can your brain make you think that you can smell of something burnt?
I was in bed at 2:30 On 25 of thursday. I was about almost done praying the Rosary ,I suddenly smelled that something had beden burnt....Not smoke. I was praying mentally had ignored it. I was gone in a short 2 or 3 min ...maybe even less than that...didnt really look at the clock while it happened. I pray the Rosary every night well morning...

I have no idea but this one late night went out with family and came home from some where, I was standing on the stairs to get down, roughly half way and asked .. smell that? It smells like some thing is burning? I could smell it but when I asked my sis in law she told me that she couldn't smell anything and my brother well .. let's just say he wasn't in the house then and still outside with his pooch!

both experiences can be explained.....some people have a stronger sense of smell than others. You may have smelled something that had lingered thru the heat vents or a strong enough smell from the outside that had entered your home. your sense of smell was so strong you picked it up but, as quickly as you smelled it ....it could also disappeared as fast depending if there was a strong or light wind which has blown it in a different direction where you were.
my sense of smell has always been stronger than others around i usually call myself the "Blood hound". Once my nose keep up the scent im on a mission to find where it's coming from. yet there's been times that someone can smell something i can not. it just depends on the indivdual....also my sense of smell is more intense when i have my seasonal Allergies and my asthma has kicked in.

If you don't believe in ghosts, then how do you know what you see is true?

I know what you mean by you smelling something. it is not a good thing if you smell something brunt. Exorcism of Emily Rose the movie had the same smell. That tit the time that evil is out. January of this year i would wake up up to the smell of my mother and Grant grandmother. Grant grandmother died 20 years ago. for some reason i know something was not right. that something was going to happen. so i told my mother and grandmother they did not understand why i was smelling them. well February 20th my aunt found my grandmother not breathing in her bed. :'(March 3rd my grandmother passed away. but the strange thins is what the day that she was found was that day i stopped smelling my mother and grant grandmother. something else that is strange 20 year to the day is when my grant grandmother passed away my. don't be afraid of it it is something your family did or something els. it is not the only time thought i smelled something or could tell when something was going to happen.

I have smelled odors so strong in my dreams that it wakes me up sometimes. Like the smell of flowers, some kind of food cooking(bacon, roast), only to find that it is 3 am and there is no way that any kind of food could be cooking in the kitchen, and my room windows are closed so, no outdoor flower smell could come into my room.

I believe that your brain can trigger a memory of smells. There have been times i can smell certain things that I like the smell of but it isnt there. I know that it is a memory of the smell.
