Straight from WIKI
The Wendigo is part of the traditional belief systems of various Algonquian-speaking tribes in the northern United States and Canada, most notably the Ojibwa/Saulteaux, the Cree, and the Innu/Naskapi/Montagnais.[2] Though descriptions varied somewhat, common to all these cultures was the conception of Wendigos as malevolent, cannibalistic, supernatural beings (manitous) of great spiritual power.[3] They were strongly associated with the Winter, the North, and coldness, as well as with famine and starvation.[4] Basil Johnston, an Ojibwa teacher and scholar from Ontario, gives one description of how Wendigos were viewed:[5]
“ The Wendigo was gaunt to the point of emaciation, its desiccated skin pulled tautly over its bones. With its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash gray of death, and its eyes pushed back deep into their sockets, the Weendigo looked like a gaunt skeleton recently disenterred from the grave. What lips it had were tattered and bloody [....] Unclean and suffering from suppurations of the flesh, the Weendigo gave off a strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition, of death and corruption. ”
At the same time, Wendigos were embodiments of gluttony, greed, and excess; never satisfied after killing and consuming one person, they were constantly searching for new victims. In some traditions, humans who became overpowered by greed could turn into Wendigos; the Wendigo myth thus served as a method of encouraging cooperation and moderation.[6]
Among the Ojibwa, Eastern Cree, Westmain Swampy Cree, and Innu/Naskapi/Montagnais, Wendigos were said to be giants, many times larger than human beings (a characteristic absent from the Wendigo myth in the other Algonquian cultures).[7] Whenever a Wendigo ate another person, it would grow larger, in proportion to the meal it had just eaten, so that it could never be full.[8] Wendigos were therefore simultaneously constantly gorging themselves and emaciated from starvation.
Also a Cheesy Movie good for a few laughs.

I started the movie last night, it is a little cheesy. I fell asleep before I even got to see the Wendigo. I am excited to go home and watch the rest of it tonight.

Yeah, it was really cheesy. The story or the attempt of a story, went downhill after the first half. I especially liked the Windigo in the orange prison outfit with antlers.

I beleive Raymond Stantz has a sufficiant description of Wendigo near the top this posting. I was only bringing up the movie to give my opinion on it. Yes, the movie is pretty cheesy but regardless it is still based on the legend of Wendigo and does help you to understand the unrestricted nature of the Wendigo a little bit better. I guess my point is that Wendigo is a spirit and therefore it can take on a lot of forms. Sorry if you felt I was off topic but I must say one of the things that I like best about this site is that everyone here is really friendly and relaxed. I thank everyone who allows me to feel free to discuss whatever I like.

I'm not exactly sure where Wendigo would actually be from. In North Western Wisconsin we actually have Bug-way'-jinini or wild man. I'm not sure if he is the one and the same, but my thoughts tell me no. It is said that if you see Bug-way'-jinini that something terrible will happen to you, but if you are his namesake (given the ojibwe name Bug-way'-jinini) this will not happen.
Also maybe it is really Piper. j/k
