Dragons a myth? I don't believe so. Embelished and exagerated? I'm sure of that. I am pretty certain that all myths, legends etc. are based, at least a tiny amount, in real things or what someone percieved to be a real thing to them. I compare it to a rumor that someone starts on one side of town, by the time it gets to the other side of town, theres a small grain of truth to it and a whole lot of B.S. that was added as it traveled from person to person.

well its just a myth. the 2 most familiar interpretations of dragons are European dragons, derived from various European folk tradition, and the unrelated Oriental dragons, derived from the Chinese dragon. the word 'dragon' comes from the greek word drakon, which is 'a serpent of huge suze, a python, a dragon' and that (drakien) aorist infinitive active of the word (derkomal)"i see clearly). so all this "it's real" B.S. is just another work of our imagination. nothing fictional. it was just made up back in "the day" to keep the towns people entertained...and even today authors us them to create non-fictional stories, to keep people entertained. Sincerly, Carrie

Actually there are other accounts of dragon myths in Africa and in our very own country of the USA. But Native Americans didn't call them Dragons, they used a different term, and I'm not sure what the term was, but its an interesting concept they had on it. But the most common dragons are the European, and the Chinese.

Btw I had gotten that information from wikipidia. But dragons are probably desintants from the pterodaktils but idk somehow became a mutant that could produce fire? LOL not sure on HOW they came up wit the breathing fire part!

Don't trust wikipidia a random hobo can put info up there. But anyway I do believe that dragons could have been real at one point in time. I mean there are so many bones of creatures that haven't been identified yet it's possible. I mean they are a myth but I still believe that sceince points in both directions proving it and disproving it.

I've always believed they existed at one point in time, but just died out like the dinosaurs did. However, I don't believe the folklore about the whole breathing fire. That makes for a nice story, but doesn't seem at all possible from a scientific point of view.
Then again, it's possible Dragons were simply inspired by fossils dug up centuries ago. It's really hard to say whether or not they existed, but it's nice to believe.

I agree with you, Depsycho 100 percent. There are so many strange creatures in this world that who knows. I do believe they once existed but whether or not they could breathe fire I'm not sure.

Well breathing fire is just too off-the-wall to believe. It makes for good STORY, but I would think dragons are already terrifying enough without the breath of fire. They're said to be HUGE, claws, teeth, strength, everything. O.O
Breathing fire just seems too unbelievable, unless they had a special coating to their throats so the fire wouldn't damage themselves as it came through their mouth/nose, but then there's the question as to how the fire is made within them? Stomachs lined with granite and sulfur or something? :-\
Well anyway, that's just my way of trying to figure it out... I would think breathing fire would singe anything's asophagus and kill them, but like I said, maybe dragons just had incredibly durable throats, allowing the breath of fire.
Can't really say for sure, but it is an awesome thought.

That's a good point. I never really thought of that. lol. but that again it might be off the wall but if you look at all the creatures on this planet you never know. How some can spit poison without poisoning themselves. Or how they have poison in them that they use to attack other prey but it doesn't effect them. Maybe dragons could spit fire and maybe they couldn't. I'm actually open to both sides.

I am too, as this really can't be proven right or wrong, unless we actually manage to find an actual living dragon someday. So it could go either way. Since there's no way to prove it otherwise, I'll pretty much stay open-minded on this too, unless by some miracle we find a perfectly preserved dragon in the arctic or something. :-\

I don't think that is going to happen but it would be awesome if we did find one dragon left. It would prove or disprove everything as for it existing it dragons once did roam the earth to be honset saying they didn't is like saying bacteria wasn't around 3 billion years ago. I agree that people should stay open minded about this.
