well this is definately a place with a solid history that should definately back up its rumors of hauntings!! alot of the original buildings still stand but most of the resident buildings have been replaced.most of the original tunnels that connect the building and run under the street and railroad tracks to parkview health care are still in use today. there is also an old cemetery on the grounds hidden in the woods with small numbered stones of mentallly ill patients that died with no families to claim the bodies. there is also a nice museum that is on the grounds only open seasonally and i think on thursdays. the grounds are absoulutely beautiful with a wide variety of trees and nearby state owned marshland. the property does boarder lake winnebago also. at one time the mental hospital was 100% self sustaining with its own farm, creamary, butcher, blacksmith, ect. it is still fully opperational even though mant changes have been made through the years.. my wife works there in the sherman hall building along with various other buildings. her and her co workers who show no interest at all in paranormal activity all claim to hear strange noises and have things move on them and disapear on them. the patients even though they are crazy also claim the same things happen to them often ! the underground tunnels that connect the building also have alot of activity going on in them wittnesses i have talked to told me about........ if anyone is interested in pictures of this place i could post a few links otherwise just google it you will find alot of info!!!
