The events that have taken place in this cemetery are beyond belief. Four employees have been charged with unearthing up to 300 graves and moving them to a mass grave in the back of the cemetery so they could sell the plots as new. Little did they know that you don't mess with the dead. They will pay much more than any court will bestow upon them. They will be haunted for the rest of their lives for their greed. I can see this area being a hotbed of paranormal activity in the years to come.

yeah that was just awful what happened! :-[The very thought that someone digs up some family's love ones for a buck is just sick! there might be another cemetery in Chicago that the bodies were dug up for $$$$.
my bf had a few family members in Burr Oak and they are filing papers for it. I will agree they say once you distrub a grave it upset the soul which can cause a haunting. that goes also for the indian brurial mounds....i would assume cemeteries are the same.

Cemeteries are creepy enough without disrupting several persons final resting place.
Does your boyfriend come from Illinois? We posted on the Stateville Prison thread. I came from just south of Joliet.

yeah he was born and raised in Chicago.....he's a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal. We drove by Stateville last year as I requested it and it's a creepy place. We couldnt get near Bur Cemetery as you know it's all taped/roped off because of the pending investigation. that would be a cool cemetery to investigate because it goes back to civil rights days and beyond. I bet there were unrestful souls before but, now that the graves have been distrubed there's even more.
