Just wondering if anybody knows of any good hauntings near Iron River, MI (upper Michigan, Iron County)? I make it up there at least once a year and would like to know if there are any in the area so the next time i go up i have something new to check out. any questions or comments would be appreciated!

There is a haunted mining camp in Faithorn, MI, across from a bottomless lake which I am sorry I don't know the name of. I was in that area in my late teens/early twenties staying with a friend at her grandparents. Her grandfather owned 800 acres of farm land at the time. The lake wasn't really big but part of his property, and something was used to measure its depth. Over 800 feet was recorded and they could have been far deeper had they had the right equipment for measuring.
Directly across from this small lake was an abandoned mining camp. At night, you could hear what sounded like men walking around, sawing, ore carts and hammering. No one else lived around her grandparents for miles. Her last name was Ranier..maybe her relatives with the same last name still reside in the area. Faithorn is very small...less than 900 people. Good luck!
Also check online about Iron River, MI...old buildings. Even driving around you may come across something and have a "feel" for an investigation.

I've checked online several times for hauntings in Iron River and so far the only fairly reliable thing i've found is accounts of a house on Iron Lake which is abandoned and has no electricity running to it, yet the lights still come on at night. I actually saw the house once when i was with my dad scouting for some decent fishing spots. However, there is a large abandoned school in the middle of town which always gave me the creeps. I'd like to know if anybody has had experiences with this place. Also, does anybody have any theories on the Paulding Spook Lights?

Hey cerberus,
My dad has been hunting up in Iron County for the past, oh like thirty years...lol He has land up there and also just built a cabin. I will ask him if he's heard of any haunted spots up there and get back to you.
