Hey Einstein2 I thought you would like this story from the early 1900's. By the way they never found this.
Meteor Strikes Eau Claire Citizens are now Trying to Find Where it Came From
Eau Claire was visited by a meteor about 11 O’clock Saturday night. Its visit was not announced and when it struck the ground in the vicinity of the Omaha yards it created no end of excitement. The meteor was witnessed by several people from the city, among them being Dr. Chase. Its flight through space somewhat resembled that of a big ball of fire which was as brilliant as an arc lamp. When the ball or meteor hit the earth it seemed to spread out and fly in all directions.
It is reported to the Leader that the meteor is the same one that was noticed passing over the city Madison Saturday evening. It is said that the spot where it fell is plainly visible, but no one as yet has found any portion of it, being burned so deep into the ground. A number of people visited the place yesterday and there were discussions galore as to where the meteor came from. Eau Claire Leader April 21st, 1908

Say thank you! A lot we don't know! Did you also know Eau-Claire has a hidden gold mine and it is at one of the parks,It was closed off and is now just a part of the park. Also a Diamond was found in a river close to town, A nice Diamond as they called it. There is also a stolen lost treasure in one of the mounds around Eau-Claire, supposedly in an underlying hidden tunnel, but it was closed off for saftey reasons and it had caved in also. The treasure still is hidden somewhere underneath the caved in tunnel. I would like to find all of them! ;D Did you also know Colby, WI had one fall in a farmers field the size of a small car and it is now featured at the Museum of Science in Chicago, ILL. A bank in a town close to Marshfield area,a long time ago, went down because of a tornado taking all of it's money with it.Only a few coins where located and returned, the rest lay somewhere to be found.A few hundred dollars worth, by the way! These are all recorded by a well known historian, I happen to know, but does not live in Wisconsin. Lots of stuff to find,so little time to look! Note!************************************************* Got metal Detector, will do honest complete hunts, no questions asked!

Wisconsin diamonds (only a dozen or so that are authentic) have 3 sources: 1) glacial action from Canadian deposits. 2) possible formation within the identified kimberlite formations but none of the deposits surveyed have been diamond bearing though they do show some placer compounds. 3) Cryptoexplosion (i.e. meteor strike) - Bill Cordua from UW-River Falls specializes in these. Diamond formation are one of the definative evidences of some impacts. The Rock Elm crater is Wisconsins best known cryptoexplosion though Cordua has been examining the possbility of one that measures 100km centered on Eau Claire.
