We've started research on The Michigan Road Guide to Haunted Locations. In the U.P. we visited a haunted lighthouse, orphanage, cemetery, and other locations.
Are any of you familiar with any allegedly haunted locations in "the Wolverine State"?

To refresh your mind, I Mentioned this past summer at the Steven's Point seminar that the House Of Ludington, www.houseofludington.com, in Escanaba Michigan is loaded. You really should check the place out. There is some information, photos, and video clips on the House Of Ludington that I have collected over several years. They are on and accessable from my websites at, www.geocities.com/thesameones2002/ and www.groups.yahoo.com/group/hauntedtheexperience. Additionally, I have a friend who owns a Victorian in Cedar River MI. He is in the process of renevating the house to a B&B. He insists the place is "occupied", and has told me of several naked eye apparitions he's witnessed, as well as furniture moving on it's own, etc.. If the Victorian interests you e-mail me and I will provide his name and telephone number to you. With one of the House Of Ludington video clips he was present and holding the video camera. It's the basement clip. The one with the large blue orb moving into the camera.

Yes the very first Ford company..I have pictures of the place and visited there. There was rumors of ghost who haunted the place as workers and you could here them working at night and other times through the past.It was a very long time ago when I went there, so I don't know if it still stands. The place was really interesting to go through. We Had to drive deep in the woods and even bumped into rattle snakes along streams we stopped at,to get there and it was along Lake Superior. Here is the pictures.

I just noticed this...20 or so odd years later! If you look at the picture to the left on the right middle corner stands what looks like a person...No-one was in the building or near it as this shot was taken, just when we entered on the property to go near the building.... So could that have been a ghost? I don't know..but it is an odd shape like that of a person. Looks like the person has a light colored top and darker pants his arms are missing or not veiwable....!

Only thing I know of Michigan is my Brother's wife is from there, have some relatives from there, picked up an RV from there with a friend for his Dad's sales business, went there for a few family reunions, and visited Mackinac Island. Mainly Grand Rapids, Flint, and Mackinac Island. The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island is outstanding.

I've heard of this cemetary being VERY creepy.
It's in Belleville, MI - Soop Cemetery
One of the most active cemeteries in the state. It was established in the late 1700's and named after the founding family of the town. Back in the 1970's, serial killer John Norman Collins murdered a local girl, raped her and laid her nude body over a tombstone here, with her clothes folded neatly beside her. There is also the grave of a witch named Elizabeth buried here. Many local ghost hunters flock here to capture orbs, vortexes, and ecto clouds on film. There are more than plenty to go around. Others come to make rubbings of the witches grave. Many people have reported hearing beastly growls if they entered the graveyard alone at night. Others have seen strange shadowy " creatures" crawling on the ground throughout the property, and some have even seen the apparition of a young girl w/ long blonde hair.

I have heard of a place in MI from my boy friend. It is the Traverse City Insaine Hospital. It looked pretty creepy from the pics that I saw but I am not sure. I grew up in the U.P of MI. and I never heard of the hauntings. But now that I have heard of some of them I am more interested and I might have to go see them!!!! I think it would be fun!!!!!

A good place to check out is Felt Mansion in Laketown Township, MI. Dorr Eugene Felt was born in Wisconsin, moved to Chicago, and then moved to the area. He completed construction of the house in 1928. He built the house mainly for his wife, Agnes, but wanted to make it big enough to accommodate the entire family hence the 17,000 square foot mansion. Six weeks after moving in, Agnes died, then a year and a half later, Dorr passed. The family sold the home in 1949 and since then it has been a seminary and a Michigan state prison. It is said that Agnes and Dorr still wander the house. Many people have reported doors being slammed, objects moving, and voices. To pay for restorations on the mansion, the owners conducted ghost tours. A couple of my friends have been there and they said it was an amazing place to go with lots of activity. You can get all the info at www.feltmansion.org

Dryden, Michigan In the 70's on the corner of Casey Rd. and Dryden Rd. a group of boys were killed in a car accident. At that time there was a farm house on the corner and one of the boys crawled up to the house for help. If you go there at night you can hear the boys cries for help and some say they've seen the ghost of one of the boys crawling across the road.
Mill St. Dryden Michigan There is a large old home located next to the white Methodist church on mill street. The house is very creepy looking and the shades are always drawn. Many people who've lived and visited the home have reported strange occurances. There was a fire in the house several years ago and two children died there. My aunt use to babysit at this house and she said that lights would turn on by themselves and different noises could be heard when no one was in the room. On one occasion while she was babysitting the phone would ring and a strange voice on the other end would ask for the small children. She even reported the phone ringing after she had unplugged it. Many families have moved in and out of this house. They usually notice an increase in phenonmeon when a family with children moves in.

There are a few places I know of, Eloise Asylum ~ built in 1839 Detroit, there were 75 buildings included on the grounds. Over 8,000 people that suffered mental illness, TB, and just poor that lived there. ghosthingychers.org/eloise.htmlBelle Isle Ghost ~ Daughter of an Indian Chief. Fort Wayne ~ Military base, said to be very haunted. I have been there and have photos but nothing unusual except the artilary ports you get a very creepy uneasy feeling when walking through them. Bath School ~ Bath Twp. Elem. School was blown up due to a school employee (Andrew Kehoe)being fired...killed many students and teachers then he went home and killed his wife and himself. There have been a few reports of sightings of the ghosts of the children that were killed. In some of the pics in the newspaper at that time there were some really weird things that were caught. One of them was one of the shots of the side of the school where the bomb went off part of the beams from the roof formed a perfect cross. Not sure if any of these are in the Road Guide, I will post more when I have more time.
