I haven't told many people about this, but I figured this would be the place to tell it. I used to live in a small town in SW Iowa. This happened a few years ago when I was in high school. I don't remember the exact year or date, but it had to be during the Summer of a year between 1997-1999. I was a basketball player and I practiced a lot outside on our court at our home. We had a pretty good set-up with lights and the whole bit. Well, it was sometime around 10:00 p.m. or a little after, I was playing basketball against my brother. I wasn't paying attention really, but something made me look up into the sky. I saw a very bright, white light that seemed to be oddly low in the sky. I pointed to it and told my brother to look at it. As I did, the light descended slowly and, in an instant, shot off in a perfect 90 degree angle. I've never seen speed like that before. Anyways, it shot off in one direction, so I ran behind our house to see if I could catch it on the other side, but oddly, I did not see it. It was gone. As I was walking back to the basketball court the power went off in the whole town. It stayed off for about an hour or so, but that was quite an experience. Now, I don't know if what I saw was an actual UFO, but the circumstances surrounding the event make it seem so. I usually never tell anyone this story, but if the subject of UFO's happens to come up, I may tell it. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
