I was at a couple of cemeteries in Rock County yesterday, and I was thinking how much I would like to visit them at night, just to get the full effect. Problem is, if it's posted that you can't go in after dark, there is a 99.8% chance I wouldn't go in (son of a former law-enforcement officer, & still afraid of his father).
I guess I was just wondering (to make a long question, longer), even if it's posted, have you guys/gals still gone into a cemetery after dark?
I know its about a .8 on the "weenie scale" but is there anything wrong with just parking next to the cemetery, standing next to fence, and looking in?
It's a goofy question, I know, but I was just curious to ask.

I think it depends on a lot of different factors, like how big the cemetery is, where it's located, things like that. For example, If you were to drive up to Church Rd Cemetery by yourself, shine your headlights on the tombstones and sit by your car, I wouldn't think you were a weenie at all. I would think you were brave. I didn't have the balls to do it the night that I went to the Dells to see Chad. I thought about it but I decided that going there alone at night didn't feel right. I will be the first to admit, I was totally scared.

Yeah, then again I'm alot of talk too.
Whether I would actually have the marbles to go to these places, at night, by myself is debateable, also.

if its posted, we do not go in. some tresspassing tickets can be very expensive.
we always assume the cemetery closes at sunset but if theres no postage about it we go right in.
i would never go to haunted place alone. theres a whole other fear factor when your alone. i always split the group into pairs of 2 or more.

there are a few in milwaukee. Did you have any interesting situations happen, while you were there? I have been to some web sites, where they say, that unless something particular happened in the cemetery itself, cemeteries are not the haven for ghosts that they are made out to be. Still, I would think walking through a cemetery at night, would be the height of spookiness.

We have been there at night like SWIGS said and it's a whole different experiences. Of course, it's more spookier because it's at night and it's a cemetery. We have picked up interesting EVPs.....
one Cemetery that you probably will get a transpressing ticket in is "Forrest Home" [Milwaukee] as they have signs out saying "they have records/cameras" going at night so there's noooooooooo way you can NOT get caught lol. it's an interesting place to go to during the day alot of famous Milwaukee people are buried in there....that's one of my favorites.

I was there about a month ago, and I can see why it's one of your favorites, its a beautiful place. I want to go back when the trees are in bloom, and I can spend more time there. The Newhall House Fire Memorial was my favorite.

Cool Pic, hollyberries!
I'm like you. When I'm in a cemetery, I like to take pictures of the statues and the stones.
There is a real silent beauty in them.

I have a friend who went to a cemetery at night with a couple of other people. He was picked up off the ground about two feet and thrust forward. If he didn't put his arms out his face would have smashed into the ground. When he got up and turned around, nobody was there.

I've found a few cemeteries that aren't posted....mostly rural. If it's not posted, I have no problem with it. If it is posted, I don't take the chance.

If it's specifically posted that it closes at night, i will never enter it. If there is no posting for it, it's about a 50% chance on my own that i will enter, of course depending on which cemetery it is, how old it is, and how much attention it normally gets (because i won't go in if its been having issues with vandals or if the neighbors near there would complain.) At that point it really all depends on what i feel is ethical. Provided that I do make it to the point where i decide to enter, 75% of the time i'm on my own when i do.
