I did some "legend tripping" this weekend in Calumet County, and I discovered two things. First, the Wal-Mart in Chilton (built on an old family cemetery) has closed. Secondly, the tree on Hilbert road (in Hilbert), where the spirit of a father looking for his missing daughter, is said to stand, has been removed. There is nothing left but the stump. I'm still happy I got to visit these sites, but I just wanted to let everybody know about the changes. The Chilton Wal*Mart is NOT shut down. I was there a few days ago... it's even open 24 hours. It's been open for a few years. Why did you think it was shut down? I know one of the managers (overall store mgrs), if you want, I can ask her if there is a chance it is shutting down, or if anything *strange* happens there... let me know!

I'll admit to being open minded and skeptical, but perhaps it was even just the thought that everyone hpoes that their parents can be there, to see a new grandchild, this could have been happening as for missing a parent that was deceased?
Why I ask and think that is for what I have dealt with sinec my grandmother's death... some things I know are happening... and some things, I wonder about, and I hope and wish, and still am left clueless...

I love to just look at the old snow covered grave stones and crosses in the area... not that I get eventful pics, but what's really interesting is finding oak and maple trees in cemeteries that are pelted full of leaves -- attached to the branches.
Why did those leaves not fall, like the other ones in the neighborhood or county vacinity? It's strange, as for all other trees have no leaves...

My brother met Dahmer. Had to be one of two (police officers) who tranported him from Portage to Milwaukee. The whole trip to and from, he made gutteral noises and cracked his bones (knuckles, neck, whatever) and did not talk at all. At that point, he probably was *quite out of it* as for being locked up for a while...
The year after the discovery of Dahmer and his crime, I read the books on him. A few years after that, my brother had to transport him. A few years after that, I read the book that Dahmer's father (Lionel) had wrote on his son...
I just cannot imagine being a relative or former friend or neighbor. It creeps me out...

I think I personally would shrug the orbs off, I would think they are dust orbs, knowing that this was an old, abandoned building.
Have you been to this place often? Do you have other pictures? I would be interested in seeing the outside views.

Just wondering, but was this cemetery just a small country-ish type of one that might have been owned by a family at any point?
I am meaning -- not a church cemetery, or a public or city cemetery? With a groundskeeper there, it could have still been a family member. I guess if I saw a smaller cemetery anywhere, I would first wonder if it was a small church or a family type of cemetery.
Sounds interesting... Can you post any pics on this site of it? Please?

(the MySpace img/page is now showing up)
Potter's Field in Manitowoc is quite interesting... even my Geiger counter would tell someone that if they could talk.
Anyone familiar with Manitowoc's own Potter's Field (where you don't have to illegally trespass, either)?

Hunted house?
Sorry for laughing. I figure you meant haunted house...

I've been there.
Not in the past year or two, but sadly, what I hoped to find or feel... nothing at all.
It's a lovely building, that's for sure!

Get a Geiger Counter, a digital voice recorder to leave running when you are not near... listen for EVPs and try to communicate. I am big with a Geiger Counter, I watch for a needle to waver back and forth...
Another thing I do, I also leave used batteries here and there... and see if I get any results with pics and my Geiger Counter needle.
Update Stnafuboy! Curious...

Be sure to buy the "Wisconsin Road Guide" book, that is authored by Chad and Terry (site owners of this site).
It's awesome information... even if they tell more on the lore and nonconclusive findings of theirs. I have a road guide in the house (signed!) and then one in the car... and when I am traveling around the state -- I get the book out and make an unexpected stop. Their road directions on finding places is quite well, too...

Hi! Perhaps put this on the Florida Ghost Thread on this site?
I think you would run into a viewer there... with that being all about Florida?
I will hope you run into someone!

*nods*
I am with Hollyberries.
When does one learn, don't play with fire? ' What does it take to understand that things like this can and will happen?
And it's not just ouija boards, it's much more that one can mess with and be sorry later on...
Good luck on getting It to leave you alone...

Due to road construction between the Dells and my area, we were not even past that area...
Perhaps some other time. *sigh*

So, what I think I will do this evening, once the sun goes down and the heat begins to cease, is to take a ride to this site and get some photos of the buliding. The moon is in a full stage and I would like to try to get that in as well. LadyoftheLake...wouldn't that be pretty? I swear the hotel has the most lovely scenery, anywhere.... You know when it's really great there? Fall time... when the leaves change. I missed the most recent full moon (and this message), we were on vacation. If I was more computer literate, I would try to post the pics I took a few weeks ago, they are to kill for! ~ Carpe Diem ~
