Carol, I have equipment. Heck, I need new batteries... it's been a long winter for much of it. Permission for some of the places around here is needed, and hours are enforced for cemeteries. As many times as I have been to "the Indian burial grounds", I have never seen any type of marker for any Indian Chief... nothing. Permission is not needed, but the property is watched by neighbors and police officers often, as for what vandals did in the past...
Hotel Hell in Maribel is not tourable... without permission. You would stand by a cedar fence and gaze at the masterpiece that burned down... from the ditch. The building is beautiful!
Hotel Hell is a different place than Motel Hell. Both are in Manitowoc County.
From the Maribel Caves, there is a back trail, where you can see the backside of the hotel as well, but you are not able to go right up to the building, if that is what you are asking...
The building and grounds are watched by people who live near by, and the property owner. Trespassing signs are everywhere... and it's not worth it, getting arrested.
Private message me for more info if you wish. I will stop with this message here, as for lurkers and trespassers and problem causers to the property... I will try to check in on this site more often... now that I have a carefree summer ahead of me (not working two jobs and mega hours).

Weekends usually work out here, and some weekends we are with plans.
I take my kids along, they love going as well (and they are not little, and afraid of ghosts and old cemeteries where Freddy Krueger or unknown people are buried)...

We plan on going there in a month, on the way home from Wisconsin Dells.
I have not been to Spring Green in many years... Can't wait!

CJM -- There are other Wisconsin Dells threads on this board, go check them out. We go there yearly, and I have been quite disappointed with the tourist-y places that have supposed activity. The one place I am hesitant to go to is the palm reader. I want to, but even parking the car -- I have had weird vibes that had me walk away... It's a residential palm reader, her house is very close to the huge cemetery on the park way (other side of the street from Noah's Ark, but down the parkway a bit). Perhaps I will go this year and not walk away? *shrugs* EDIT: Here's a link for a thread on this site -- it's quite interesting : chadlewis.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wisconsinghosts&action=display&thread=1358 And here's another, on Spring Green : chadlewis.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wisconsinghosts&action=display&thread=1232

I'm from Manitowoc, and am familiar with this area, the grounds. Even the neighborhood and such.
I'd be interested. Keep me posted.
EDIT: Rapids is Manitowoc Rapids, on the very west side of the city, not far from I-43. The three cemeteries in that area are in the residential area, off of the main road (outskirts of the city).

I have lived in this state a lifetime, it definately sounds interesting!
Curious to where it is, though... I am north and east of Lake Winnebago for most of it.

Thanks, darkone! *laughs*
The more that the "Children of the Corn" series went on, the harder I laughed... they got so pathetic!

I live close to Lakeland, and for the times I have been there, it's like any other average, normal school...
What did you find abnormal about the place?

I love Stephen King movies. Still when I watched "Pet Semetary" a few nights ago, I then realized that sure... we were at a funeral wake that same night, but the next day this dear friend would be buried, 6 feet under.
For the first time in ages, I walked away from the room that the movie was playing in, and went to bed.
"The Shining" is one I could watch over and over, too... and "Children of the Corn" is such a classic... we sit there and laugh!

I would be interested in reading more about this, Kathy!
I hope the time there is eventful!

Casper22 -- can you post any pictures of this place? It sounds interesting.
Also, RavenHawk's link... and that area being quite rural-like, is that it?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Boyd That's a link to who Belle Boyd is. I was not familiar with the name. Next trip to the Dells will have me look for her gravestone. Interesting person, that's for sure!

I've been to this cemetery many times (we go to the Dells usually twice a year), what I have noticed are lots of cold spots on the hottest of hot summer days, when there is no breeze. I guess for the cold spots, it was just *different*. Same thing with some particular winter odors there...
